The field has been cut down to 4 races, but as they numbers dwindle the competition heats up in a big way in the 2013 JGR Puppy Stakes.

Only the best of the best moved on to the quarter-finals, and trust me when I say, there are some doozy match-ups come Friday evening.

No way do you want to miss the action on Friday, so let’s look at the 7th, 9th, 10th, and 11th races on the card and try to help you cash some tickets.

No superstars in the 7th race on the card, but a ton of emerging stars are ready to grab the spotlight and plead their case for the upper crust tonight. No greyhound has made more of the opportunity so far than Kiowa Try Thelma. Thelma ran a monster race to win in round one and was next best to super-pup Razorbingo in round 2. Here she gets back inside, and even without the lead no one can hang with her in the stretch. Her late kick is amazing and she will find a way to keep up her torrid pace and take home the win tonight. Ww’s Cous is a rising star that has climbed up through the ranks as of late, including both trips in the stakes rounds. She has closed well in both efforts and has not finished out of the money in 6 straight trips. She loves this post, the 7 box, and it will be a difference maker for her in this effort. With a pair of wins, and a close second place finish, in her last 3 starts from here, everyone better watch out. M’s Grandpa Fred jumped back to 550 for the stakes and he has competed fairly well so far over the shorter distance. He has not been breaking as well as he has over 660, but he has make up ground easier over the shorter distance. With a pair of in the money efforts in the rounds, expect more of the same again tonight from a favorable midtrack post position. Cayenne Hail must not be overlooked here either. This greyhound made up for a rough trip in round one by almost winning in round 2. There she came from well off the pace and came absolutely flying up at the finish line to just miss by a nose at the wire. She needs to get the light bulb turned on early again in this effort if she wants a chance to win, and the 1 box will do nothing up aide her in this effort. (2-7-4-1)

The 9th race is all about the big three. Speed, post, and class! By the look of it Ww’s Musician is in the big chair to start off this effort. She has all three going in her favor, not to mention the fact that she has been on top of her game so far in the stakes. She loves to race on the rail, one box, check, she is the only solid grade A in the field, double check, and she has the best early speed of the bunch, triple check. All she needs to do is make the front end and no one is going to get to her tonight. Chasing her throughout and maybe even making it interesting in the stretch will be the Dutch duo from Lester Raines. Both Cinnabun and Cami can come from well off the pace to challenge and both have been a force so far in the rounds. Either of them could find a lane late and get the job done, but both have to be around the conversation early if they want a chance at the victory. Cinnabun might have a slight edge in the sister duel as she starts off from a more advantageous post position tonight. Rounding out the best of the rest category is Amf Downsideleft. This greyhound has not run that great so far in the stakes, but you have to love her upside. She is still just a pup and figuring things out, and it is so hard to ignore her back to back impressive wins just before the stakes rounds started. Both were monster efforts and that 30.49 blazing trip could come about again if she can get out the starting box. Same 8 post here that she had in that effort, so watch out if she gets loose early on. (1-7-5-8)

Now for the race that NO ONE IS GOING TO WANT TO MISS! It doesn’t get much tougher that this race as it really could be considered a final round field. Two undefeated greyhounds, along with another round winner, and 4 others that have finished in the quiniela at least once in qualifying. Really though this should be a two of three greyhound race as Ww’s Ignite Fire, Razorbingo, and the veteran Kiowa Mat Marty battle it out for the front end and the win at the wire. Taking all into consideration, I like Ignite Fire. Not only can this puppy break and win races, she can come from off the pace as well and get it done in the stretch. The other duo needs the front end in order to win so the double threat is just that tonight. Razorbingo has the outside where he wants to be and with 3 wins in a row, he is hotter than anyone else in this field. He will need a huge break if he wants to hold off the rest, but he has the skills and speed to get it done. He ran faster than Fire did in round 1 and both of those efforts came on the open lead in their respective races. If he fires out of the box to the lead again, this race is going to be very interesting throughout. Kiowa Mat Marty didn’t fare well in round 1, but put on a clinic on round 2 for the determined win. Marty can be caught from behind and needs a lead in order to secure a win at the wire. Here the lead might be tough to get as the other tough greyhounds will be break fast too. The 5 box gets him room early and if he sticks his nose in front headed to the turn, he will have a shot to put up back to back wins. Ww Sparks Flying might be the forgotten one in this effort, but she too is a solid grade A greyhound that has a pair of wins showing against the best competition the racetrack has to offer up. Closing is her game as well and even though she might not be in the mix early on, she will most certainly be coming on strong at the finish line. Just missing in her last effort, she needs to step up her game tonight if she wants to move on to the semi-finals. (3-8-5-4)

The other undefeated greyhound left in the stakes headlines the 11th race on the card. Topline Pursuit has won 3 straight races since returning to 550 and that includes both of the rounds of the stakes so far. He has been breaking extremely well and that has been the difference maker for him in the rounds. Don’t think he is a one trick pony though as he can win races from off the pace as well. Tonight he is going to have to be on top of his game if he wants to win again as there are several talented greyhounds trying to take him down before the finish line. Dutch Rudy is the only greyhound in the stakes with previous final round experience and it showed in round 2 with a strong hard driving victory. Here Rudy gets the rail, and even though it is not his best box, he is going to bring the heart of a champion late and show everyone just what he can do around the racetrack. Class and determination are his best attributes and he will need them both in order to challenge for a win in this effort. Ww’s Death Row might just be the best early speed greyhound in this field, and from a great inside post position, she too could be in the mix for the win in this effort. Sure she is short late, but she has not missed the money in 6 races in a row, so she’s tough to leave out of your selections. Between a pair of converted 660 greyhounds, she might just be unabated to the early lead in this race and might prove to be the one to catch on the front end. Can she hold on to the wire and win?? With help, maybe, without it, I don’t think so, but you never know. Now for the big question mark of the field, Jet City Woman. So far in the stakes her pair of third place finishes seems unimpressive, but trust me when I tell you, she is far better than those lines show. She has not broke at all and has looked a bit flat in both of those starts. I’m waiting for the greyhound that ran 30.57 4 races back to show up. She has all the tools and when the JET gets turned on, she is a big time force at bestbet Orange Park. Is tonight the night for a ROCKET effort? We will see. (6-1-2-5)

Semi-finals for the 2013 JGR Puppy Stakes will run on our special Monday matinee May 27th at bestbet Orange Park! Once again the field will be cut down and the top 24 greyhounds will have a chance to work their magic and secure themselves a spot into the finals on Saturday evening June 1st in conjunction with our kick off of the Summer Saturday Specials. Food and drink specials along with 2nd chance drawings all night long. Make you plans to join us here at bestbet Orange Park!

The second round of the 2013 JGR Puppy Stakes is in the books and in the aftermath three greyhounds remain untouched after impressive box to wire victories.

Super pup Ww’s Ignite Fire blazed the trail in the 11th race as she cleared on top from the get go and left the field, and trouble, far behind her. She was never really challenged and put up the best trip of the evening as she won by 4 lengths in a blistering 30.45 second clocking.

Razorbingo didn’t disappoint either in the 7th race as he too found the mark at the break and left the field in his lurch. With every step around the racetrack he increased his lead all the way to the wire and won by more lengths than anyone else in the qualifying rounds. He was 5 lengths clear of the rest as he crossed the line in 30.74 seconds.

Topline Pursuit also remained in the ranks of the undefeated, but he had the biggest scare of the bunch. Outrushing everyone to the lead he was in command heading down the backside by a comfortable 3 lengths, but as they came up the stretch the lead started to shrink. Ww Sparks Flying started to live up to her name as she came flying at the leader as they approached the finish line. Try as she might, she still couldn’t get to him before the finish line. Holding on late, Pursuit slim one 1 length win came in 30.60 seconds.

Red Oak Racing was the best in the bunch on Monday evening as they not only win with Ignite Fire, they also took home another pair of wins with Ww’s Musician in the 2nd and Ww’s Nomoretears in the 5th.

Ww’s Musician broke close and then put on a tremendous rush to the first turn to seizes early command of the 2nd race. From the point on he was well clear of his nearest competitor and coasted all the way around the racetrack for the easy win. Three and a half lengths better than the rest, Musician hit all the right notes tonight with another solid performance.

Ww’s Nomoretears had to work a bit harder to secure his victory in the 5th race on the card. Breaking well, he was in the mix of things early on until he decided to take it to another level. Outrushing everyone to the turn, Nomoretears stole nearly 5 lengths on the field and he was going to need each and every inch come the finish line. Cayenne Hail was bringing the rain as she chipped away with each and every stride she took around the racetrack. Closer and closer she crept and less and less Tears lead got. In the deep stretch it had all but vanished as Hail was absolutely flying, but after the smoked cleared and they checked the photo, Tears held on for the slimmest of win, that by a nose.

Lester Raines also double dipped as he won with the previously mentioned Topline Pursuit and with Dutch Rudy in the 4th race on the card.

Breaking in the conversation and being in contention at the first turn, Dutch Rudy was close enough to do some damage in the later part of the 4th race. Putting his patented lake kick to good use, Rudy found another gear down the backside and took over command of the race. By the far turn he was already in the lead and from that point on you just knew they were not going to catch him. With a determined stretch drive he pulled even further away from the field as crossed the line as an easy 4 length winner.

The last, but not the least, of the victories belonged to the Connell Kennel as Kiowa Mat Marty found his break, the lead, and the win in race 10. As the box came open, Marty looked like dear old dad, All-American Kay V Tatto Tony, as he was out like a shot and in instant command of this race. Stealing away lengths early on, Marty was almost 4 lengths clear of the rest by the turn, and even though the closers were coming, he maintained the smaller edge throughout and clung on late for the slim win at the wire. Posting up the second fastest time of the night, Marty threw his hat back into the ring as someone to watch out for heading into the quarter-finals.

Third round action takes place on Friday evening May 24th at bestbet Orange Park, where the field will be cut down to 4 races for the quarter-finals! Smaller fields, great match-ups, and loads of excitement, so don’t be left out! Watch, Wager, and Win on us at bestbet Orange Park!

The cast remains the same but the lines are all different as the second round of the JGR Puppy Stakes comes your way tonight!

Seven full races chalk full of talent and determination will be heading to post to try and secure even more points and a chance to move on to round 3 on Friday evening.

We will check out the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th, and 11th races on the card for Monday evening below and try and give you some more insight to help you cash some tickets. Don’t forget that we will be drawing three names tonight for $50 worth of free wagers, so come on out and join us and maybe even bet some of the 2nd round on us!

Race 2 is all about class! Three greyhounds in this field of 8 are solid grade A’s with several wins showing and the rest to be honest are just not up to their caliber of racing. They have a distinct advantage in this race, and if it runs true to form, they might just be an easy trifecta play. The best of this talented bunch might be the one who finished worst in round 1. Ww’s Death Row gets a better box here in the 2, and with a better break, she should be the one to catch on the front end. No Doubt Ww’s Musician will be breaking and running tough again from another great outside post position. She loves it out here and just missed a win in round 1. She will be a threat throughout again in this effort. Converted router, M’s Grandpa Fred, will be making up ground late once again tonight and the coveted one box could be a difference maker for him. He could take them all down before the wire, but he will need to break better to get it done in this effort. The best of the rest award goes to Dashen Rain. Hot off a big time 3rd place effort in round 1, Rain was all over the hunt for the win and could back that up with another solid effort. He likes the inside and the 3 box will just aide him again tonight. Watch out if he gets loose early, he might just be in the mood for an upset. (2-6-1-3)

The class theme continues on in race 4 on the card as the pair of solid grade A greyhounds look like the ones to beat in this effort. Shootin Outlites lost a spirited duel with late speed runner Caitlyns Dream in round one and is looking to make amends in this effort. He has been in the trifecta in 5 of 6 races in grade A and she won in impressive fashion just 2 races back. If he decides to break fast, it is going to be tough to beat him in this effort. Gs Tex is a rising start for the Willis Kennel that is really on top of his game as of late. He is a determined closer that might not be around early, but should be flying up late to contend with the leaders at the finish line. He should like this post and should get room to run. The effort part is up to him! Dutch Rudy is better than his lines show and the only greyhound in the field with final round experience. He has already run in the 2013 James J Patton Silver Cup, and looks to make another final round race in this stakes. This closer gave a huge effort in round 1 and even though he finished fourth at the wire, he was just a couple of lengths off of the winner. Here the 5 box might be his biggest hurdle to overcome, but if he can break it really doesn’t matter that much. Breaking is what he needs to do it be successful tonight. Ww’s Irish Moss is a steady plugger that has won 2 of his last 5 starts and has finished in the money in 5 of his last 6 attempts. He has some late speed to burn on occasion, but he must be in the conversation early on if he is going to be effective in this effort. The post does help, but here he needs to step up if he wants a chance to move on to round number 3. (4-1-5-3)

Race 5 gets a litter more interesting as the field comes out even and we only have one solid grade A greyhound to look at and she didn’t fare well in the first round of the stakes. So with that being said, I look outside and take Kiowa Red Brook. Far away from the crowd, she should get room to rush early and if you look at her lines, this pup is not joke. She has break and close and is looking to improve on that close 2nd place finish in round 1. Trying to derail her will be that solid grade A we mentioned earlier, Cayenne Hail. Tough post here in the 4 box, but if she gets loose early it really won’t matter that much at all. She has the best raw speed of the bunch and if she clears on the lead, the race will be for place. She is the too dangerous class leader that could just dominate in this effort. Pat C Stonewall righted the ship with a determined box to wire big time victory in round 1, and here she is looking to continue her hot streak. No one inside of her has any early speed and once again she might just be unabated to the lead. She can be caught from behind, so it is in her best interest to steal as much as she can early on if she wants to repeat. The odds could be in her favor, let’s see if she is up to the task. Ww’s Nomoretears has had a couple of rough trips in a row, but she is far better than her lines here show. She is a solid chaser and that can contest any leader, if she gets out of the box, and she can even win a few when the mood suits her right. She needs to get the planets aligned tonight again if she wants a chance at the upset. (8-4-3-5)

Big money jackpot in the 7th race as Razorbingo is back and ready to post up another gem. In round one, no greyhound was faster and with those back to back jacks he is gaining confidence with each and every start. Here in a field with no true early speed greyhounds, he should be able to make the front again and that could spell BAD NEWS for this field. If he gets the lead he is going to be extra tough to run down before the finish line. If any greyhound stands a chance to get it done it has to be fellow first round winner Kiowa Try Thelma. Thelma ran the race of her young career in the first round of the stakes and took a not short solid grade A off the lead in the deep stretch. Her late drive in that effort was astounding and if she can shift gears like that again tonight, she might just be able to get it done in back to back races. Others to take notice off are the pair of solid grade A greyhounds on the midtrack part of the racetrack. Gege Takeaticket has been in the trifecta in 4 straight and 5 of her last 6 starts, including a close 3rd place finish in the 1st round of the stakes. This stalking closer just keeps coming and coming at you and even though she might not be all that flashy, she is a threat that can’t be ignored in this effort. Crazybrittney faltered in the first round of the stakes, but has a grade A win showing just two races back. In order to get back into the swing of things tonight, she needs to finder her break once again. She runs her best near the early lead and will need to come out running early in this race. If she is in the conversation at the turn, she should stay there through the finish line. (2-3-6-5)

Race 9 is all over the place, but with all things being equal, take the greyhound that has the most of the big three at the start. Here Ww Sparks Flying has the post and the class, she is just missing the early speed. But what she lacks for there she more that makes up for in the stretch and with the other two categories. Here she starts from her beloved rail and is the only greyhound with multiple grade A wins over 550 yards showing in her lines. True she is going to have to come from off the pace to get it done, but she should be around close enough early to take them to task tonight. Trying to ruin her plans will be the Lester Raines duo who both won in the 1st round of the JGR Puppy Stakes. Both Topline Pursuit and Caitlyns Dream have converted from the longer to the shorter routes and neither has missed the beat. Pursuit has broke well and posted up back to back winning trips over the 550 yard course, and Caitlyn put up almost a personal best with her come from behind win in round 1 of the stakes. Both greyhounds have the stretch run to contend here and if they all get around close in the stretch, this one could be an all out battle royal as they duel for the wire. Now for the early speed part of the race and it comes by the way of Easi Butterball. Butterball can run a ton when he decides to break, just look 2 races back, but without the lead he is just not quite the same greyhound. No matter the lead, he is short late and can be caught from behind by the better closer at the racetrack. That is why I think he sets the pace to the stretch here and surrenders to the big dogs late in this effort. All in all a good trip, but if he has a chance to win he must break and get some big time help behind him. (1-7-5-2)

Rebound time in the 10th race on the card as monster grade A winner Kiowa Mat Marty looks to get back on track after a disappointing finish in round 1. No matter the post, Marty needs to get out of the starting box well to accomplish what he wants, which is a win in round 2. Marty runs his best near the early lead and is pretty tough to catch when he gets his nose out in the clear early on. Sure he has been short on occasion, but it takes a special effort to run him down before the wire. Speaking of special efforts, Dutch Cinnabun put on one in the 1st round in the stakes. Even though he came up on the short end of the stick, he still gave his all and that is all that you can ask of anyone. Here he is posted well near the inside again and will just keep coming and coming after the leader. Will he get to him before the wire? That remains to be seen, but know for sure that he will be doing everything he can to get the job done. Cinnabun’s sister Dutch Cami also must be considered a threat in this effort. Like her brother, she too can close and has also a runner up in the 1st round of competition. She likes it outside and gets a perfect post here in the 8 box. If she gets the green light around the turn, she too might just have a shot at the win tonight. Ww’s Cous is just a baby, but has already managed to be knocking on the door of the grade A’s in just 8 career races. She has been in the money in 6 straight races and seven of her first 8 career trips. She has dominate late speed and can come from well off the pace to challenge at the wire. Look for her to make the most of this 7 box, she ran the race of her career from here 3 races back, find a way to get into the mix by the finish line. (5-4-8-7)

Race 11 caps off the evening stakes events and features one of the most exciting puppies that we have seen jump up through the ranks in a while. Ww’s Ignite Fire has won 6 of her 8 career starts and has not finished out of the trifecta yet. She has tremendous late speed and that comes along with an impressive break too. She has all the tools and put them on display once again in round one as she won by 7 lengths in a speedy 30.43 seconds. Look for her to come out close and take over late for back to back victories. Gs Jersey must be considered a threat to the puppy as she is the only solid grade A in this field. She likes to race midtrack, so she might have to overcome the inside post in this effort, but with her closing abilities she should be able to get it on the right track. In round 1 she didn’t perform up to her own standards, which have seen her finish in the money in 5 straight in grade A, but here she looks to rebound with a strong closing effort. Don’t count her out, she might just have too much experience over the field and could take home the win tonight. Jet City Woman is an impressive pup that can hang with the big boys and girls on the circuit and has shown both breaking and closing abilities in the past. In round 1 she was a solid third, but didn’t really run her best effort. Almost outside in the 5 box, she gets room early and could be upset minded in this effort. Par Super Easy gets the post position bonus in this round with the 1 box. This solid chaser is the best of the rest in this field and she might be able to hang with the leaders if she can get out of the starting box well. She was a gradual gaining 4th in round 1 and looks to improve on that effort in this race. In order to be effective against this talented field, she will need to explode out from the starting box in this race. (4-2-5-1)

The field will be cut down to 4 races for the quarter-finals and they will run on Friday evening May 24th at bestbet Orange Park!

In the first round of the 2013 JGR Puppy Stakes, Razorbingo from Clear Lake Racing screamed the loudest around the racetrack and posted up the effort of the evening.

Breaking from the 7 box in the 11th race on the card, Bingo rocketed from the starting box and took instant command over this field. By the first turn he was already 5 lengths clear of the rest and from that point on it was CLEAR sailing. He coasted on the lead and gradually increased it all the way to the wire. Crossing 6 lengths better than his nearest rival, Bingo cashed in with the quickest trip in 30.41 seconds.

Not far off, super-pup Ww’s Ignite Fire put up a pretty fine showing of her own in the 10th race. She too broke from the 7 box and came out running when the lid was opening. Seizing control as they headed to the turn, she was never in question in this effort and the further the race went on, the uglier it got. Drawing away for fun late, she posted up the biggest margin of win in round one at 7 full lengths as she stopped the clock at an impressive 30.43 seconds.

The Lester Raines kennel was the only double winner on the card, as Topline Pursuit captured the 4th race and Caitlyns Dream took home the gold in race 7.

Pursuit didn’t live up to his name as he too came on a mission from the get go. Breaking extremely quickly, he stole away a strong early lead by the first turn, but he was going to have to work to keep it. Kennelmate Dutch Cinnabun wasn’t giving up that easily and chipped away with every stride around the oval. Pursuit’s lead shrank and shrank and shrank, but at the wire me managed to maintain his margin and take home the slim win.

Being a converted router for this stakes, Caitlyns Dream did just what she was supposed to do in this effort, CLOSE! Breaks fairly close early, she was in the mix to the turn and down the backside, but it was what she did in the stretch that secured her the victory. There she found another gear that the leader just didn’t have and gave a determined stretch run to steal away the victory in the deep stretch.

The biggest surprise on the evening came in the 12th race as the Connell Kennels Kiowa Try Thelma put on a late running clinic for the win. Breaking close and driving hard to the first turn she was stalking the leader Ww’s Musician for most of the race. By the far turn she had dwindled the lead down to almost nothing and in the stretch, FORGETABOUTIT! She hit the turbos and made a not short greyhound, look really short in the stretch. Drawing away late with every stride, she won by 4 full lengths in a speedy 30.47 second romp.

Breaking quickly helped the other two winners to the checkered flag in the 9th and 13th races on the card. Both Pat C Stonewall, in the 9th race, and Mo’s Antoinette, in the 13th race, hit the lid and took over early on in their respective races. Both stole enough early on, and try as the rest of the field might, none of them could get to the leaders before the finish line. Both won by a length in nearly the same time in the low 30.80′s.

Second round action takes place on Monday evening May 20th at bestbet Orange Park! Grab some friends, makes some plans, and come and join us for some exciting races and three chances to win $50 worth of wagers in our Monday Free Cash promotion.

It may be getting hot outside, but at bestbet Jacksonville we offered up a nice $50,000 prize pool for our players to jump right into. 595 players doubled the guarantee, building a total payout of $119,000 dollars. Local pro’s from all over Florida as well more than a few locals populated the 5 starting days, but in the end it was local pro Ryan Settles who’d pocket the biggest payday.

Ryan put in his second straight final table appearance in the monthly bestbet tournaments. At last March’s 50k guarantee, Ryan finished 6th after coming into day 2 with one of the biggest stacks. In this event Ryan would once again come in with a big stack; he started the day 2nd in chips, but struggled early after taking a few big hits near the bubble. But if you come at the king, you best not miss and as the final table approached Ryan easily regained a more than formidable stack and soon took the chip lead. From there the remaining seven players decided to chop the prize pool, forking over the biggest chunk, $11,000 to Ryan.

Ryan’s a cash game player and a nuclear electrician in the Navy, but instead of spending most of his time in submarines these days you’ll find him sitting around the tables at bestbet building his bank roll. We’re happy to call Ryan Settles our May champion! Thanks to everyone who took part!

The best puppies at the racetrack are ready to rip the lid and get to racing in the 2013 edition of the JGR Puppy Stakes this Friday evening at bestbet Orange Park!

Seven full boxes of youngsters will start their quest for greatness over the next two weeks and come June 1st, we will see just who the best of the best is. The rounds will take place on Friday evening May 17th, 7 races, Monday May 20th, 7 races, Friday May 24th, 4 races, Monday May 27th, 3 races, and the finals will take place on Saturday evening June 1st!

Now on with the fun as we look at each of the first round events and give you some insight on your winning wagers.

JGR PUPPY STAKES – ROUND 1

First up is the 4th race which sets up very well for the resurging Easi Butterball. Butterball is all about the early speed and with a void of it in this race, he is going to be in front by default. Posted up well on the inside, and coming off a win, he has the right mindset to get the job done tonight. The only question that remains is can he steal enough early, to hold on at the wire for the win? Coming on strong in the stretch to challenge should be the pair of grade A greyhounds from Lester Raines, Dutch Cinnabun and Topline Pursuit, and Par Super Easy. All have gears to burn in the stretch and if any of them are close early on they could easily win. Know for sure that this one is going to be interesting at the finish line. (2-3-7-1)

Tough competition comes our way in the 7th race on the card as several grade A’s will be taking their aim at the top spot at the wire. Closer Ww Sparks Flying looks to have an edge over the rest of the field here. She has been screaming in the stretch as of late and has 3 wins in her last 5 races, but don’t think this is going to be a cakewalk. Former stakes finalist Dutch Rudy can come running late too, and if he can overcome the 1 box, he should be right there at the wire as well. Caitlyns Dream is back from the added routes to try her hand over 550, and if she hits the lid at 550 like she does at 660, they might all be racing for second in this effort. Don’t forget the outside part of the racetrack either. Shootin Outlites loves it out here and he has really stepped up his game as of late, and if he sees the clean air up front, he is going to be tough to blow out before the wire. (3-1-4-8)

It doesn’t get any easier in race 9 as the talent level is at its peak across the board. Class gets the nod though here as another Julia Ward greyhound looks like the pick. Ww’s Nomoretears has a solid break and the determination to get things done at the wire. He will need to be on his game though if he wants the big W as this field will not go away anytime soon. Pushing the back will be the I’m coming into my own RIGHT NOW runner Amf Downsideleft. Back to back stellar wins in ultra fast times see LEFT right in the thick of things throughout in this effort. Even from off the pace she will be a threat, but if she breaks again, she could take it all the way for the three-peat. We also must consider the duo of grade A’s closers from Lester Raines in this effort as Dutch Cami and Cayenne Snow are not going to just give away the win. Both will make a run late and could have a surprise waiting for the leaders late if they can get out of the box well in this effort. (3-5-1-7)

Super-pup time in the 10th as the phenom Ww’s Ignite Fire gets a chance to show off once again over the bestbet oval. Never out of the money, she has won 5 of her 7 starts and each has come in commanding fashion. Here she gets back outside and should get room early to rush and run. From the lead or from behind, she makes another statement in this effort. Trying to ruin the best laid plans of Mice and Men will be solid grade A’s Gs Tex and Cayenne Hail. Both greyhounds have a pair of wins in grade A showing on the books and either could pull off the upset in this effort. Tex is more versatile and can win from off the pace, but if Hail wants a shot at the win, she needs to come out running early on. Different styles, but the results could be the same if they rise to the occasion tonight. Watch out for Amf Leftside Up too. This greyhound just moved back to 550 and has been a consistent threat in his last 4 straight efforts. Winning might be a stretch, but running on the ticket here could be an easy task. (7-8-6-2)

Now for the battle royal of the first round, race 11! Super-breaker and grade A force Kiowa Mat Marty gets a chance to improve on his stakes record here with an advantageous inside post positions. Marty is clearly the one to caught and beat in this effort, and if he bombs from the box, he might just prove too much for this quality field. His main opposition tonight will come from the two posts inside of him at the break, but if either of them want to win they will need to get to Marty before the wire. Gs Jersey has the better shot at it with a pair of grade A wins showing in her last 4 starts, and 6 efforts in a row in the money in grade A. She loves the rail and will be in the hunt at the finish line. Crazybrittany has stepped up her game as of late and is riding high off a win last time out in grade A. She is a rusher and will need some room early if she is going to be effective again in this effort. The big question mark of this field is Razorbingo. Bingo took the track by storm flying up to grade A, but ran into a slump once getting over the mountain. He found his break and rebounded well last time out with a win to get back amongst the best at the racetrack. If he hits the lid again tonight, he could tip over the apple cart once again. (3-1-2-7)

In race 12 class should rule the night and no one is classer here than Ww’s Death Row. This greyhound has not missed the quiniela in 4 straight starts in grade A and in two of those races she posted up the win. She has blazing early speed and should control this race from box to wire. Making a race of it will be the outside part of the track. Ww’s Musician is a kennel mate and also a solid grade A closer. She can make up ground on almost anyone over 550 and if the mood suits here, she can even break and threaten from the get go. Look for her to get room early in the 8 box and for her to challenge the leader throughout. Jet City Woman might not have a ton of starts, but what she lacks in experience, she more that makes up with her talent. This stretch driver is as quick as she wants to be and when she gets loose, she can go toe to toe with almost anyone at the racetrack. She made a big splash breaking in, now is the time to put on another show. Snj Pepsi is back from a stint over 660 and is eyeing the prize again over the shorter course. She has tremendous closing ability, but the light bulb has to be on to get her best effort. Post position in this race is a big plus, so all the planets are aligned, let’s she which cola shows up. (4-6-8-7)

Capping off the first round, the 13th race might just be the one that is open for anyone to win. Here we have breakers, rushers, and closers in the mix and it might just come down to who does what they do the best on this given occasion. When all else fails, go with your gut, or in this case, the class in the field. Gege Takeaticket is the only solid grade A competitor in this field, and even though she has not won a race in her last 6 starts, she has been pretty close in all of those efforts. She has a solid rush and a big late drive that will see her prove best at the wire tonight. If she wants to win, she will need to catch Gs Natalie and Kiowa Try Terry on the front end. Both of these greyhounds possess the early speed needed to see the front here and both have lasted to the wire to win in the past. If either wants to take home the checkered flag in this effort, then they need to build a huge lead from the get go. Still it might not be enough to win, but it would at least be a good start. Ww’s Irish Moss must not be overlooked in this effort either. He too is in grade A and has a pair of wins showing in his last 4 efforts. He has good closing speed and could also run down the leaders before the wire. Tough starting box though, so a big rush early would help him out tremendously in this effort. Tonight we’ll see if the field can be a rolling stone, or if she will prove just too much for them at the finish. (4-5-6-2)

What a great weekend of races we have in front of us here at bestbet Orange Park. Top grade events over 550 and 770 yards, plus a couple more marathons on Friday evening as well. Let’s check out all the great effort and try to give you some winning tips on the races!

Friday

The new vs. the old in the 7th race on the card as stakes winner Amazing Run and wily veteran Gs Jock take on the invading Blanchard duo from Sarasota. Here class wins out! Maybe sometime in the future the invaders might have a shot, but history is on the side of the old-timers. Amazing run loves the inside and the 3 box is close enough for her to get it done. GS Jock looks to rebound after his last effort, and if he clears, this race is his too loose. Outside the newcomers sit and we will see just what they can do. Both Breath Taking and Mega Bacilo both have closing ability and should make a late dash for the cash tonight. (4-3-7-8)

The 9th race is the 1st of 3 marathon races on the card and this solid B event might be the play of the evening. Lucky Betty is back from Mardi Gras where she just competed in their marathon stakes. She has a distinct class edge over this field and I expect her to win this race with ease! Trying to make her work for it will be the well experienced solid dropper Stand Back Drive. The outside post aides his effort and he could be a piece of the pie at the wire. Mo’s Strider loves the extra distance and the 1 box surely can’t hinder him tonight. Gs Tegan rounds out the rivals. Down a grade, this solid chaser should be around throughout! (3-8-1-7)

Back to 550 and back to grade A in the 11th race as the Ww Sparks Flying looks to weld her way by everyone late for yet another win. This talented pup has all the tools to get it done, but she is going to have to be on top of her game to beat this talented field. Warped is right next door and if she comes to run, she wins this race. She has had some rough trips as of late, but could finds round outside tonight. E’s Blingo was a stakes finalist and has shown flashes of greatness in the past. She too needs to break, but should be in the hunt for the duration of this effort. Ship in Sookie Stachouse is stepping up in class, but seems to break well and could be unabated to the rail in this effort. If she gets around early, she could be the surprise of the night. (6-7-3-5)

More marathon, no problem! Check out the 14th race were a TC field heads over to 770 yards and Gs Kadence looks to take the top spot. Here she is back at a great distance for her and will be getting to work early and keeping it up all the way to the wire. She can win from off the pace as well, so this double threat will be tough to stop. Rs Cashin In likes this distance as well and hot off a win, she is ready to provide a challenge again here. Posted up, she factors from start to finish. Gs Jocelyn is in the one box and you need to forget the lines. She is much better than they show, and looks to have righted the ship in her last schooling effort. I expect her to show up and contend tonight. Easi Camden is the wildcard in the bunch! You never know what you are going to get. The post helps and if the light switch is on, he just might threaten! (6-2-1-8)

Finishing off the 770 Double Quiniela and the evening, this grade A event over 770 is going to be the highlight of the weekend. Loads of talent here and anyone could take home the win if it all goes their way. Clearly the fans favorite will be Gs Cosmo. The most decorated greyhound in this field gets room away from the crowd in the 8 box, and if he comes out running, I don’t think anyone in this field can run him down before the wire. He will be the pick, but he needs to rise to the occasion again tonight. Pressuring him for sure will be the hard nose running Slick. Slick won the last marathon he races in and has been a threat and each and every start over the last month over this distance. Making any leader work, he will be a threat throughout tonight. Mo’s Aragorn runs better the further he runs, and he too has a marathon win showing in his lines. He loves the rail and gets a great starting box here in the blue blanket. He too must break, but can contend from off the pace as well. Up a bit in class, he needs his best effort in this race. Caitlyns Dream could be the one for all of them to catch in this effort. She has blazing early speed from the marathon box and could easily see the front end in this race. Her drawback is that she is short in the stretch and can be caught by anyone of the closers in this field. If she gets some help behind her though, she might just prove too much on the front end. (8-3-2-5)

Saturday

On the matinee we have just one top grade event and it comes in the 11th race on the card. The good news for us is that it should be very exciting to watch and it has one of the best puppies at the racetrack in the field. Jet City Woman is back in grade A after a tremendous win last time out in grade B from nearly the same post position. Look for her to break close and hit the afterburners late to take home the victory. Pushing the pace should be back to back winner Ww’s Wine Cooler along with her kennelmate from Red Oak, and recent winner herself, Bb’s Alonzo. Both greyhounds have the skills to wire this field on the lead, and if they steal enough early, they might just have a chance to continue their streaks. Best of the rest goes to the wishy-washy Kiowa Deep Junk. This greyhound is as fast as he wants to be, but you just never know when he will show up. If he breaks well, and is close early, he might have a shot today. (2-3-5-6)

On to the evening card and POST POSITION rules the day in the 7th race on the card. The edges get the nod here as Braska Nymph is back on an upswing in the 1 box and the wide running rising star Pinball Wizard is feeling right at home in the 8 box. Nymph is more of a breaker and should come out running in this race. She is tough to beat on the lead and that is where she will be early on in this race, but Wizard is developing more in every start and has enough late to bring a hard challenge to the leader at the finish line. Others not to forget about her are the solid grade A competitor Gege Takeaticket and the tough if I’m close early running Ww’s Work Flow. (1-8-6-7)

Speed, breaking speed that is, is going to determine just who wins the 11th race! Black Oak Smash has taken well to his new surroundings and has been coming out of the starting box like a rocket over his last few efforts. No one has been close to him early and that will give him the uncontested lead once again in this race. Once in front he can be caught, but I think the closers come too late and he survives at the wire for his 3rd win in his last 4 starts. Stalking him every step of the way will be the fierce competitor Chasmo’s Earl. Earl has not missed the money in 6 straight and I fully expect that trend to continue tonight. The back in grade A closers, Sabil Par Hick and Ww Head Rush both should be considered a threat and could be in the mix at the wire as well. If either gets loose early, they too have the potential for the upset. (3-4-7-2)

We saved something special for the last race on the card as you get to watch, wager, and win on the best puppy at the racetrack right now, Ww’s Ignite Fire. Despite a hiccup in her first maiden race, Ignite Fire has not been beaten at bestbet Orange Park. She has tremendous late speed and has easily come from off the pace to win 5 straight races up the ladder in a row. She has made it look early at times and will continue her red hot running in this effort. She will have to beat several proven grade A runners to get the job done, but so far, it appears that she is more than up to the task. The only drawback is the post, but she won last time out in grade A from this box. Challenging her will be her kennelmate Ww’s Death Row. This greyhound is a solid grade A competitor that has not missed the trifecta in 4 straight, including a pair of wins in grade A. She is a good breaker too and should press the pace early on, but she will be no match for the puppy in the stretch. Dutch Rudy is on the other end of the spectrum as he can run with the puppy late, but might be too far behind early to contend for the win. This greyhound has already been a stakes finalist and will be a tough competitor when the puppy stakes starts in just a few weeks. Here he will make do with the post and should provide the leaders with a stretch challenge to threaten them near the wire. Gs Jersey can’t be overlooked either. This greyhound has not missed the money in 6 straight races in grade A and has enough early to get close and enough late to factor at the finish line. A threat from box to wire, she will be in the mix all the way tonight. (5-2-3-6)

Sunday

Sunday matinee has one top grade event and it comes in the 11th race on the card. Lucky for us it features two of the best greyhounds around and it could be an easy quiniela cash for everyone if they both decide to show up. Orange Park Derby winner Safe At Home draws a great inside post position and should be the favorite to win this race, well that is if Kiowa Mat Marty is not the one with the most money bet on him at post time. Marty fell last time out, but previous to that he had been in the quiniela for 7 straight races where he won 5 starts. With different styles it will be fun to see how this race turns out. Can Marty steal enough to hold on late, or will Safe At Home break too close and drive by in the stretch for the win? Both better be wary of Ww’s Musician! This greyhound can hang too and has been in the cash in 9 straight trips. Hot off a win in grade A, she too might just be in the mix for the win today. Ship in Fluff N Stuff gets the red box, and you know you can never forget about the 1 box at Orange Park, so we have to watch out for her as well. She just won in grade B and is poised to make some noise in this effort too. (2-8-4-1)
