GREYHOUNDS LISTED IN POST POSITION ORDER

POST POSITION DRAW VIDEO
Racheal Lee - Points (48)
Career Totals (129-24-28-22-28)
W R F March 2006 Get Over - Nothing But Fine
Owned By Sharon L. Williams
Runs for the DQ Williams Kennel
Trained by David Helton
No big surprise here folks, as the 2008 winner of this event returns and is ready for the 2009 finals after an undefeated run thru qualifying. Sure this time around she is taking the easy route to the championship. Last year she ran well in qualifying and closed in each and every effort, but she didn't win a single round but saved it all for the finals where she proved best at the wire for the title. In qualifying Racheal Lee has looked dominate and no one has been even close to her at the finish line. She has not broke on top in any effort and still posted up wins by 5, 7 and 5 lengths, including the best time on the night on two of those occasions. All she has to do is get a lane and be somewhat close early and the race is almost already over. She has a tremendous backside drive that engulfs greyhounds on the lead for fun and in the stretch no one has been better. She is the marathon queen and will most likely be favored to win this event for the second straight year. Helping her out is her kennel as DQ has never lost the finals of this race. Santa's Playgirl won the first edition, and as we stated above, Racheal Lee was last year's champ. Showing their reign over the added distances once again, Racheal Lee is just one of three finalist for them in this race. Post position really does not matter too much for her, but if I was a betting man, I would think that she would like something away from the crowd either on the far inside or outside part of the racetrack.

Penny Candy - Points (48)
Career Totals (127/73-19-16-10)
Bd F January 2006 Stan's Boy Flyer Majestic Angle
Owned By Sharon L. Williams
Runs for the DQ Williams Kennel
Trained by David Helton
The second of three from DQ, Penny Candy is a name that everyone knows. The 2008 National Win Leader and All-American, Penny is a threat over any distance and even though she is a more pure 660 yard greyhound, she extends the heart over 770 and doesn't miss a beat. Winning is almost all she knows and in the stakes race she did what she does best in every round, win races. She too is undefeated in qualifying, just like she was last year, but hopes to do better than 4th this time around in the finals. Remember she already has an added stakes race win under her belt in 2009 with the Orange Park Derby, and I know David Helton will have her locked and loaded once again on Saturday Evening. Penny has won 73 career starts and is creeping up on the all-time win list and it's 80 race plateau. No greyhound in this race has more heart than this little girl and everyone knows that when she straps on a muzzle, you will get all that she has in each and every effort. Post might play a role in the outcome for her as she has not been breaking quite as well as she has in the past over this distance. She did rush very hard to the 1st turn, but if she gets not room early, that really won't matter than much in the end. For a clean trip and another chance at a stakes title, I'm pretty sure she would like to start out from the far inside or outside post positions in this effort.

Xtra Style - Points (38)
Career Totals (126/24-23-23-22)
W R F January 2006 Kl's Doug Exceptional Bid
Owned By Deborah Strickland
Runs for the Lester Raines Kennel
Trained by Mike Gerard
Xtra Style completes the returning finalists in this field of greyhounds and looks to finishing higher up the ladder than she did in last year's race. There she ran into trouble and finished out of the money. During qualifying she proved that she deserved to be there and here! She won her first two races in impressive fashion and in different ways. In round one she hit the lid and was off to the races for an easy victory. Round two was a bit more work as she had to come from 5th at the far turn to battle up all the way to the wire as she stole away the slim victory. In round three she met up with Penny Candy in an undefeated showdown and even though she didn't win she ran a respectable 4th after encountering double trouble in the turns. Xtra Style is all about her name. She has Xtra speed to burn on the lead or from off the pace and she does it all with a touch of class and Style. No matter her position at the start of this effort, you can expect for her to give it all she has and advance from the start to the finish. Style is the only greyhound in the finals for the Lester Raines Kennel and trainer Mike Gerard. This veteran will need to be close early in order to get a clean trip that she will need if she wants to win this race tonight. A good post might go a long way in helping her out. If she was choosing for herself, she would pick something toward the outside part of the racetrack.

Deco Insta Hart - Points (32)
Career Totals (113/20-18-16-17)
W Bd F December 2005 Kiowa Sweet Trey Flying Valentine
Owned By Henry T. Howe
Runs for the B & J Racing Kennels, Inc.
Trained by Chris Grieb
Deco Insta Hart has proved to be a pleasant surprise for the B & J Kennel in this stakes event. She had never run 770 yard before and her warm up race before the stakes was at best, lukewarm. But that was not going to deter them from entering her and to their credit they must have know what they were doing as she is now in the finals. During qualifying she might not have won a round, but she was highly competitive in each and every start. In round one she just missed running down Penny Candy on the late lead. Round two more of the same as she finished a game third and in round three she held the lead all the way to the far turn before surrendering to 2008 winner Racheal Lee. It was not an easy road to hoe either as she ran against all three of the top seeds, and threatened to beat all three of them at different times in their races. Deco Insta Hart is the only entry for the B & J Racing Kennels in this race and this will be her first attempt to win a stakes final. Post could be important to her and in this race I think she is feeling a bit patriotic tonight. All she wants is the red, white, or blue blankets to start off from and that would have her standing at attention from the box to possibly the early lead in this effort. If she wants to upset here, she will need a very strong break and some help behind.

Eds Go For It - Points (28)
Career Totals (45/6-11-6-5)
Bd F January 2007 Flying Penske Eds Cherokeegirl
Owned By John M. Crowe
Runs for the Crowe Kennel
Trained by Garnet Crowe
The Crowe makes it back to the stakes with a find looking youngster that really took to the added, added distance. Eds Go For It took no easy road to the finals either as she had to compete against Racheal Lee in all three rounds. To her credit she was the closest greyhound to her at the wire in the first two rounds. There she closed well throughout the course of the race and arrived in time to finish 2nd in both of the efforts. In the semi-finals she ran into trouble and never really recovered as she finished just out of the money in 5th. Still she acquired enough points to make it to the finals of his very first stakes race event. Eds Go For It really has some good late speed and when he gets clear she can come on pretty strong at the end of the race. She is still a puppy really and will only get better with age. Over 660 yards she has had some success, but she has never really shined like she did over the 770 yard distance. It looks like this pup, might just have found a new home during the qualifying rounds. Go For It is the only entry for the Crowe kennel in the finals of this event, but no problems as she might be the only winner for Crowe too. Post position could help out her in this effort and I would think, looking at her lines, that anything inside of the 4 box would be great place for her to start this race from.

Lover Girl Bambi - Points (26)
Career Totals (97/12-13-23-16)
Bd F June 2006 Get Over Dave's Lovergirl
Owned By Sharon L. Williams
Runs for the DQ Williams Kennel
Trained by David Helton
Lover Girl Bambi has really blossomed in 2009 and has taken her game to a whole new level. First she competed well and made the finals of the 2009 Orange Park Derby. In that race she closed throughout and overcame trouble to make it up into the money with a 4th place finish at the wire. Not missing a beat she jumped right into the qualifying rounds of the 2009 Patton Marathon Stakes and just kept doing what she had been doing, closing well and finishing in the money. Granted she did not win a race, those were saved for her kennelmates Racheal Lee and Penny Candy, but she earned enough points with her 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes to make it to her second straight stakes final. With her great tenacious closing efforts the DQ Williams Kennel gets three greyhounds in the finals and this one might be a little more special for trainer David Helton. You see he not only trains Bambi, he also owns Bambi, so he gets a little double dipping in this stakes race final. A good post position would go a long way to help her out against this talented field of greyhounds. You see she is all rail all the time and was stuck outside in her last couple of efforts. If she could draw something on the inside part of the racetrack, that would be GREAT for her! If she does get to see the red post, she might have a better shot than anyone can image.

Glo's Legend - Points (22)
Career Totals (77/12-8-9-8)
R M September 2006 Flying Penske Glo's Cinderella
Owned By Greyhound Gregg, LLC
Runs for the Stacey Blanch Kennel
Trained by Linda Blanch
Glo's Legend looked good in his warm up race right before the stakes started as he went box to wire for victory, so it was not a stretch that he could competed with the big boys and girls over the 770 yard course. Granted as the competition got harder he became a bit shorter on the lead, but his break did not go away. Legend was in the lead in two of the three rounds and it took the undefeated greyhounds to take him off of it before the finish line. His pair of third place finishes, along with his 4th place effort was enough to secure him a spot in this final round race. Legend is the only entry in the finals for the Stacey Blanch Kennel, who makes it two stakes finals in a row with the addition of Legend to this field. (Rs Libby Lu finished second in the finals of the JGR Puppy Stakes.) No greyhound had better speed to the turn and no greyhound in this final round probably will either. Late, well that may be a different story though. Legend does have a chance at the upset, but he is going to have to have everything goes his way at the start of this race and he is going to have to have some help behind him. A good staring box would go a long way to help him make the front end at the start of this effort, so being that he likes to race on the rail, an inside to rail post would be most favorable.

Kiowa Fuzzy Fern - Points (18)
Career Totals (58/10-1-7-8)
Bk F May 2007 Fuzzys Cannon Kiowa More Money
Owned By Smith Greyhounds, Inc.
Runs for the Connell Kennels, Inc.
Trained by Jannette Holmes
Last but not least into the stakes was Kiowa Fuzzy Fern. What would a stakes race be at the Orange Park Kennel Club with a Kay Smith greyhound somewhere in the mix? NOTHING? LOL! Kay always sends some tough competing greyhounds to our circuit and here is just another example of one, Kiowa Fuzzy Fern. Fuzzy Fern's mom has produced quality distance greyhounds in the past, so the move to 660 and 770 was probably a natural for trainer Jannette Holmes and the Connell Kennel. They have had success in the past in this race too as Kiowa Pretence just missed winning in last year's final, this year Fuzzy Fern will be the only torch that will have a chance to be lit. Fuzzy Fern make her way into the finals of this race with a 2nd, 4th and last place finish and really it could have been even better. In her first round race she was flying up the rail in the deep stretch and lost the three way photo for place and had to settle for 4th. Up next in round two she ran a doozy as she chased Penny Candy throughout for place. In the semi-finals she ran into all kinds of trouble and was way out of it early on. Trying to rebound from that effort in the finals, Fuzzy Fern will have her hands full against this talented field. If she is going to be successful tonight, she will need to get out of the box well and get room to run. Post could play into that a little bit and she has to settle for what's left at the end of the draw. Hoping beyond hope, Fuzzy Fern would like to be somewhere on the far inside or outside of the racetrack tonight.
