Well this is it! Just three races remain in the 2019 First Coast Classic and out of these will come the 8 finalist that will contend for the crown on Saturday evening November 9th at bestbet Jacksonville. As expected, a ton of talent is still left in this field, but only one greyhound has made it through rounds untouched. Puppy Stakes winner, Pat C News, gets a chance at perfection in the rounds, but needs to keep breaking of he wants that top spot in qualifying. Let’s take a look at the 24 remaining greyhounds and see if we can spark you weekend with some winning selections.
Saturday evening November 2nd, 2019 – Round 4 of the 2019 First Coast Classic
Race 7 – Twice is not a charm in this race. Lee Liam might have sat in the box and ruined his 7-race win streak, but he still almost won at the wire. He is a strong rusher and closer and will once again be on top of him game here. Time to Rise and Shine in the stretch to steal away the win from the early leaders. Speaking of the leaders, that role is most likely reserved for the big-time early speeders in this race. Ww Annie Kay has been a factor upfront in all of the rounds but has proven short in the stretch over and over again. In an ideal spot, she leads to the deep stretch here before surrendering. Pushing the pace will also be the Redemption stakes winner Lk’s Alexis. Another well posted greyhound, hot off a win, and tough when she is close early on. Look for her to give it her all once again tonight. Forget the last trip, Big Blacklash was a back to back winner and headed into the third round untouched. He didn’t quite get the lead there, but still finished in the trifecta. Another good early speeder to challenge the front end, and another good in the money play in this stakes round. (4-1-2-6)
Race 9 – This one is a wide-open race that several greyhounds could jump up and grab the 19 points available for the win. Tmc’s Skatman is getting better with every start and looks to be tough to control in the stretch. He is coming off of back to back finished in the quiniela, but if he wants to earn the victory tonight, he is going to have to get out of the starting box better in this effort. Trying to steal away the lead, and the win, will be the cagey stake veteran Pat C Zoe. Not what she used to be, but Zoe can still rack up the W’s on the front end on occasion. She is short late, a little more now than before, but she could wire this field from a great post position in this effort. Why? No early speed here anywhere. She will be unabated to the front end and the one to catch tonight. Others to keep on out for include the always closing pup Bwc Murphy and Saber Bryce. Murphy might be in the best post but will get room at some point to try and rally. If he clears close, he is overdue for a win, and could be upset minded in this race. Bryce is hot off a win in round 3 and has made the money in 5 of his last 6 efforts. He is move of an even run chaser, so expect him to hang around throughout and continue that moneymaking pace from a strong midtrack post position. (4-3-1-5)
Race 11 – No doubt about who we are picking in this effort. PAT C NEWS! The only undefeated greyhound left in the field, News has been dominating his races early on. He is the best rusher at the racetrack and has been tough again up on the lead. Winning 3 straight, 4 of 5 and finishing in the quiniela in 6 straight races, he is in peak form. Dueling for next best will be the steady chasing threat Ponda’s Angie. Not flashy, nor a threat to win, Angie just keeps chasing the leader around the racetrack in each and every race that she is entered into. She has not missed the money in 6 straight races and that includes all three rounds of the stakes. With another strong effort, she finds that money spot once again in this trip. Late Arkans Bb Kodiak will make his presence knows. This closer is always coming on strong in the second half of the race, but it has been too little too late in round rounds. Finding the money positions in all 3 trips, he has been a threat, but not for win. If he wants to step up his efforts here and have a shot at the finals, he must break better. Don’t sleep on Lk’s County Gal tonight. Two races back in round number 2, she was posted up in the 8 box and had a near box to wire win. Tonight, getting ahead of News to the turn will be a task, but you never know what can happen. If the mood is right and the planets are aligned properly, winning could happen. (4-3-8-5)
The finals of the 2019 First Coast Classic will run on Saturday evening November 9th in the 11th race at bestbet Jacksonville.
