Monday Evening October 28th, 2019 – Round 3 of First Coast Classic
Race 7 – Speed will be the winning factor on the evening in the 7th race as a trio of great early speed greyhounds will be vying for the front end, and the wire, in this effort. Mo’s Tom is finally back breaking and has been a force so far in the rounds. Hot off a win, he will be tough to deny again. Lk’s Alexis has not been on top of her game as of late but remember that she won the Redemption Stakes back in Early October. She is tough on top, and if she hist the lid, she could be unstoppable tonight. Stakes Vet Pat C Zoe only runs close to the lead and rebounded nicely in round number 2. She led throughout and just missed at the wire. Getting caught again, might be in the cards here as well. Don’t forget Lee Endo either. With all the early speed up front, he will be making his presence known in the stretch and might just be able to run down everyone before the wire, if the mood suits him. (6-3-4-7)
Race 10 – No doubt who to pick here, Lee Liam. This super-pup is the one to not only beat in this race, he is the one to beat in the stakes. He has won 10 of 12 races, 7 in a row, and both rounds of the stakes so far. He has been dominating so far and not been challenged at all. Look for another race where he obliterates the field. Next best here will be the battle. Early speeders like Ww Annie Kay and Lee Delila will for sure be pushing the early pace in this race. Both are strong to the stretch, and both are short as they approach the finish line. No lead will be safe here, if they can get the front end, as neither have the gears needed late to hang with Liam in the stretch. Another greyhound to consider is Bwc Murphy. This closer was next best to Liam last time out, by 9 lengths, and could be once again in this race. He needs to break better from this tough middle post if he wants a chance to factor again tonight. (8-3-2-5)
Race 11 – Tough race here as a pair of undefeated greyhounds match up for a chance at the three-peat. Pat C Kudos and Big Backlash might not be the names you expected to hear here, but they are both breaking, running tough, and winning in the rounds of the stakes. Kudos is more of a true breaker, he has two box to wire wins in a row, whereas Backlash is more of a rusher that controls the race once he gets there. Posted alongside of each other, both greyhounds are going to be locked in competition from the start of this event. This one comes down to who wants it more late advantage to Backlash. LK’s Country Gal could also be in the mix. This greyhound finally gets back inside and has enough early speed to be in the mix as they head to the wire. She is no slouch, has won 3 of her last 6 trips, and has posted up some impressive times. She is tough when close, and tonight she will be close. All better keep an eye on the rearview mirror in this one. Wanna B A Champ is a strong closer that has been in the money in 5 straight races, including both rounds of the stakes so far. He has speed to burn late, gets a great post position to start from, and could upset if it all goes his way early on. Watch out! (7-8-3-2)
Race 12 – Capping off the evening, another easy selection with the puppy stakes winner, Pat C News. Also unbeaten in the rounds, News is a strong breaker and rusher that will find the lead from any post, but especially when he is away from the crowd. This 8 box is perfect for another box to wire romp. News can be short late on occasion though, so he must steal plenty early to get the job done today. Trying to ruin his plans will be the always chasing threat Ponda’s Angie. This pup just can’t seem to win a race but is always around the lead and has finished in the money in 6 straight trips. With a right next-door starting box, plenty to chase after early on this race. She will factor from the get-go and be in stalking place for the duration of this trip around the oval. Others to thing about include the giving his all runner Js Peter Parker from a great rail post position, and the fast closing Arkans Bb Tres. Both have not missed the trifecta in the rounds so far and I expect more of the same in this effort. If either get loose early, both could have an outside shot at the upset at the finish line. (8-7-2-3)
