The big winner in the second round of the stakes was the Crowe Kennel. Winning 3 of the 8 contests on the card, his trio posted up some impressive wins and let the field know that they have yet another force to be reckoned with in the 2019 bestbet Sprint Classic. St Pete Dreaming set the pace for the kennel by winning the first stakes race on the card. In race number 2, Dreaming broke in the middle of the pack, but it didn’t take long for him to get going. Outrushing everyone to the early lead, he took his 3-length margin around the racetrack and all the way to the wire. Crossing in a blazing 30.36 second trip, Dreamin woke up in a big way in this effort. Miami Dolphin was up next in race number 4, and she didn’t disappoint. Breaking almost on the lead, she quickly took over the race and never looked back. Padding her numbers with each stride early, she glided around the oval and all the way to the wire for a 6.5 length win in 30.58 seconds. The third winning for the kennel came in the 7th race as Mo’s Tom gave a determined front running effort. Breaking in the middle of the pack, he rushed hard to take a slim lead at the turn. Under pressure the entire way, he turned for home with still a length over the competition. Down the stretch that margin would evaporate, but digging in deep, he held on by a nose at the wire for the win in 30.49 seconds.
Dutch Calvin might not of had the help of his kennelmates to win several races for the Lester Raines crew, but what he did in his race WOWED everyone in attendance. Finally breaking closer again after getting back into the groove, Calvin put on a show headed to the turn and was determined to take home a win in this effort. Busting his butt to the front end, he was 3 lengths clear of the rest early, and that was bad, bad, bad news for this field. By the far turn that lead mad stretched to 5 lengths and he was not done just yet. He added another half a length before the finish line and stopped that clock at a NEAR TRACK RECORD in 30.02 seconds. WOW! Is all you can say about that!!!!
The Lashmet kennel continued their winning ways with a pair of wins headed lined by Lk’s Good Golly’s 6th win in a row in the 10th on the card. Beating the box once again, she was never in doubt as she made the front end and just kept on keeping on. Coasting around the track on the lead, she was comfortable as she could be with a slim lead as she finished 2 lengths better than the chasers in 30.60 seconds. Lk’s Livin Lucky gave a similar effort in race number 5 as she went box to wire for the big time W. She stole away lengths early on, good for her, as she would need every inch of them late in this effort. She saw her lead dwindle from 3 lengths at the far turn to just 1 at the wire, but a win, is a win, is a win. Stopping the clock at a speedy 30.57 seconds, she is poised to do more again next time out.
The other two winners were Gs Kirkland in the 12th race and Arkans Kochab in the 9th race. Kirkland is a veteran that made the most of his post position and his break. Hitting the lid, he drove from the box in the lead and took that all the way to the wire. Pushing to 3 lengths at the turn, he would see his lead shrink all the way to the wire. By the far turn it was just 2 lengths and at the finish line it was down to a length, still not enough to get to him and deny him in this effort. Crossing in 30.41 seconds, Kirkland gets another chance to shine in the rounds. Arkans Kochab was the slowest of all the winners on a speedy card at 30.90 seconds, but she was also the only one that came from off the pace to get it done. LK’s Alexis rushed to early control of the race and set the pace throughout, but in the deep stretch she was no match for the always closing Arkans Kochab. Jetting by in the final few strides, Kochab got past in time to win by a half a length in 30.55 seconds.
The field will be trimmed down to just 4 races for the quarterfinal that will be taking place on Monday evening July 22nd at bestbet Jacksonville.
