And then there were 3, races that is, left in qualifying in the 2018 edition of the $30,000 bestbet Sprint Classic, and the action couldn’t get any hotter. Twenty-four great greyhounds remain, and each has a shot to factor in their respective races. The top is crowded with points, so each and every one you can earn from this point forward is going to be important if you want to reach the final 8. Let’s take a closer look at these races and see if we can get you cashing some tickets this weekend at bestbet Jacksonville.
Saturday evening July 27th, 2018 – Semi-Finals $30,000 bestbet Sprint Classic
Race 7 – Down to the nitty gritty and time to step out on a limb a bit in this effort. L’s Sum Dog is as fast as he wants to be and finally, yes finally, gets an inside post to break and run from. He will fine room in here, especially since Dutch Doreen will be screaming to the front in the post next door. All he must do is be in the conversation early on, and he will run down everyone in the stretch. He needs to the points to have a shot at making the finals. Watch him show up here. If he falters in this effort, then you must like Dc Midnite Rider. This greyhound is a head away from 3 wins in the rounds, he did win 2 efforts, and with another great outside post, expect him to continue his excellent running. With a solid rush, he will be a force to be reckoned with throughout this effort. Don’t sleep on the other inside runners either here. Js Ranger Rover has not missed the quiniela in 5 straight races and that includes 3 in the stakes, one of which was a win. He has a good determined running style and should prompt the pace in this effort, and the aforementioned Dutch Doreen has the speed to see the lead and is almost always lasts in the money somewhere at the finish line. In 6 straight starts, she has not finished worst than 3rd, so you should expect the streak to continue in this effort. Out and gone to the lead and getting past late by the rest. (2-7-1-3)
Race 9 – The toughest race on the card could be a battle royal from the word go! Three two round winners here, along with 6 winners in the rounds, looking to take home the points and have a shot to make the finals. Loads of talent on tap, and you can make a case for several of them to be the victors in this effort. I like Chasing Charlie. Growing up by leaps and bounds in the stakes, his back to back wins, 4 straight quinielas, and that 30.23 clocking gets him the nod in my book. He likes it outside and will make the most of this post too. He will not be alone early or late as the closing Phenom Jedi Auntie Pho is right next door and needs another good trip under to belt to move on. She needs to clear early though as she is a rusher, but if she hits the lid, this race could be over early on. Speaking of wiring the field, Ww Xavier might just do that too. He has won 2 of the 3 races in the rounds and 3 of his last 4 efforts. He has great early speed and can hit the lid and dominate on the front end. If he waits to move inside to later in the run, he will have all kinds of room to rush the turn. If he clears easily, he will be tough to beat tonight. Last but not least is the other breaker, Pat C Kudos. This greyhound is no slouch either and might just do her own box to wire dance in this effort. She has won 2 of the 3 rounds, and 4 of her last 6 efforts at the racetrack. She is close to the inside where she wants to be, she just needs to come out firing again in this effort. She it tough to catch, i.e. Charlie couldn’t get the job done in round 1, so if she bombs the lid, she too could be a frontend winner. (7-6-8-4)
Race 11 – Early vs late speed in the 11th as stupendous closer Lee Blondie will try and catch the early leaders in this race from last to score. Tough proposition for her in this one. Flyin Kryptonite is ideally posted in the 1 box, and after finishing his break again last round, he could be a tough nut to crack on the front end. He has not finished out of the money in any of the rounds, or his last 5 races in a row, and will be long gone early in the lead here. I’m not saying that Blondie can’t pull off some miracle finish and get to him before the wire, yes folks she has the closing talent to do just that, but it will be a tough thing to do if she sits in the box early. If Lee Blondie is even 4th at the turn, this race is over, and she will be the winner. Either way, you know she will factor in the outcome of this race as she always comes flying up late and will find a spot in the trifecta for the 7th straight race. Blondie might not be catching Kryptonite though as Kentucky Rich, the runner up in the recent bestbet Puppy Stakes, could be the one to catch on the lead. He too has blazing early speed and he won the first two rounds of the stakes before faltering in the quarters. He needs to find his break, but if he does, he could be a front-end force once again in this effort. Don’t sleep on Atascocita Kitty either. More a reach from the outside, but she can flash from there on occasion too. She is a bit of a closing greyhounds but runs her best when she can get close early on. Tonight, I big break will be needed if she wants in the winning conversation at the finish line. (1-4-3-6)
