Monday evening February 19th, 2018
Round 1 of the $75,000 James J Patton Silver Cup
Race 2 – Puppy power in this race as Ww Whatsapp seems to be coming into his own with every start. Three impressive wins in a row, peaking at the right time, he should get it done. He won’t be alone, veteran stakes winner Hey Hey Daddy is posted well in the 1 box but needs to get back into form to compete. Solid grade A Takin The Money should be around the pace throughout, and don’t forget about Tmc’s Lowe Jack. Back from Southland, he can fly when he gets clear early on. (7-1-2-3)
Race 4 – Spot play here in this race. Mac’s Kelly is an early speed greyhound in the 1 box, next to a greyhound that is going to break 12th in an 8-dog race. She is the only early speed greyhound in this race and will be lone gone early on to win. Trying to run her down late will be the former track record holder Kmz Kraken, who post excludes her from a W tonight. The Resurging Gs Humongous should factor throughout and no one closes late like Pat C Gangsta. (1-7-5-2)
Race 5 – Wide open race where, but when you win 3 of your last 4 races, you get the nod. Puppy, Pat C Alex, has been on a tear and it should continue in this effort. Watch for a hard-fought race and for him to hold tough late for the victory. Pushing the pace from a great post should be veteran Boc’s Andross, along with the solid grade A contender that is Speedo Tuxedo. Both could take home the win if it all goes right for them at the start. Don’t discount veteran Craigie Warlock. If he wakes up, he could upset. (4-1-2-7)
Race 7 – Newcomer time as Midnight Loot has taken to the bestbet oval like a duck to water. She has won 4 of her last 6 effort and has been in the quiniela in 6 straight. She is in tough, so tonight will need to be a statement effort to win. Applying pressure will be the posted up returning closing threat Jedi Texas Acre who has not missed in the trifecta in 6 straight races., Craigie Javier heads back to sprints for this race and will come on late, and never forget to include the 8-time stakes finalist, Boc’s Queen Lady. (3-1-4-6)
Race 9 – Another race where anything goes. Let’s take the red-hot upstart from Blanchard, For The Birds. This pup can really fly, pun intended, and makes the most of her early rush and late surge to win races. Six straight in the money, including 3 wins, and a huge on at that last time out in A, she is the on to beat. Trying to take her down will be the well posted threat Bgr Benny Da Jet, who must be around early to contend. Solid chasing grade A, When Doves Cry, will be around as usual, and don’t forget Dutch Casey. Back to 550, he will be a late flying factor, especially from the outside posts. (2-1-5-7)
Race 10 – Is probably the toughest race in round number one. Drink It Off just won the 2018 Orange Park Derby and is now back at sprints. He can run 550 too and just missed by a ½ a length in the finals of the 2017 Holiday Sprint Stakes behind his brother. Posted well outside, he has the advantage, but Lk’s Black Gold is no slouch either. Rested and ready to go, if she hits the lid, she could dominate here as well. Throw in the tremendous looking pup Se’s Joe K, and monster router Craigie Avatar into the mix late, and it could all get interesting at the finish line. (6-5-2-7)
Race 11 – As fast as he wants to be L’s Sum Dog has gears to burn and can outrun almost anyone at the racetrack when he wants to go. He is rested up and ready, let’s see if the light is green for go in this effort. Working hard to try to win will be the back to back, and 3 in 6 race, winner in grade A, Gs Ann. Ann is a closer and will be charging late to challenge. Talented posted up pups Vicki Of Ruckus and Dc Midnight Rider both have chances here too. They just need to break well to contend. (5-4-1-2)
Race 12 – Pat C Hash Tag is the best, and really the only, early speeder in this field and that will help him get a victory. He should be unabated to the lead by himself, he just needs to figure out a way to hold on and win. The I only run from the outside threat, Bang Ludwig, will make the most of the 7 box and factor, as the 660 convert Dutch Dalton makes a late rush into contention in the stretch. Cal Smith also gets some love, but the one box will hinder his effort as he runs his best on the wide side. (3-7-6-1)
Race 15 – The pre-race favorite comes your way in the final stakes event on the card. Fix A Drink is the best sprinter at the racetrack and the greyhound that won the last stakes final, the 2017 Holiday Sprint Stakes. He has all the tools, break, close, determination, and he has won 3 of his last 6 efforts. He will get out well and take home a win here. Fan favorite, and 2017 All-American, Real Good Feelin can’t get over the hump for win 98, but tonight she will try once again. Second in 4 of 5, she keeps up the trend with another strong effort. Don’t sleep on the talented pup Se’s Fast Fanny, and early leader Lk’s Berry Frost will make it interesting till the stretch. (6-3-5-2)
Round 2 takes place on Friday evening February 23rd at bestbet Jacksonville. The entire field will return, so make you plans and don’t miss out on one single minute of the riches race of the year, the 2018 James J Patton Silver Cup! I’ll see you at the races.
