2016 770 Yard Redo Race Round 1

Round 1 of 770 Redo Race

Racing News

16rrThe first round of our 770 Redo Stakes will run tonight at bestbet Jacksonville. Sixteen of our best marathon greyhounds will take part in this exciting event. The top four finishers from each race will move on to the finals on Saturday evening May 30th where we will crown a winner. One week later you will get a chance to pick it again as the same greyhounds will return in the same post position for our Redo Final Round 2. Let’s take a look at the races and see if we can get you cashing some tickets tonight.

Race 11 – Round 1 of 770 Redo Race

Class plays a role in every stakes event, but in this case, the ability to run the route also comes into play. When both are in alignment, the greyhound has a good shot at winning. So with that being said, no doubt that you need to look at Darx Ida Da Moon. Currently running hot with back to back wins, and a big time closing W in his only 770 starts, he is clearly the one to beat in this effort. This greyhound’s only drawback here might be the post positions as all three of those wins have come from the 1 box. It is a long way to the rail, but if he can get there, watch out! Herstal is another solid grade A greyhound that has a great aptitude for this distance. Three starts ago she just missed winning to the aforementioned Darx Ida Da Moon by a length and has no signs that she is afraid of the added distance. She is as fast as she wants to be and with a solid inside post, along with 6 races in a row in grade a where she has finished 2nd in 3 of her last 4 attempts, she too should be right in the mix at the wire. Now is the time to forget the lines! LOL! Jerry’s Jazzy has not looked all the great as of late, but has put up some monster efforts over the added, added distance course. This former grade A can get it done and likes the midtrack to outside post positions. A sleeper for sure, but his best time of 43.69 seconds is the best amongst this group of greyhounds. Ww’s Black Foot gets the best of the rest nod as she is a solid grade A that has finished 2nd in both of her 770 starts, and like tonight, those races came from inside post positions. If she can clear early on, she might be upset minded in this effort. (7-3-8-2)

Race 15 – Round 1 of 770 Redo Race

This race is a little different as several greyhounds have never run this far, they look like they can, but you never know just what you are going to get the first time out. So class, experience, favor Raiders Bacardi. This greyhound is the only solid grade A in this race and he also possess the quickest time showing over the 770-yard course. He has gears the others wish they had, but he sometimes waits just a bit too long to start shifting them. He needs to come out better, and if he does, they are going to have a hard time beating him tonight. The other experienced marathoner is Shutthefrontdoor. This greyhound has not finished out of the money in 3 attempts over the distance, but has shown that she is short at the end of those races. Here from a great rail post, I expect her to make the lead early, but holding on all the way to the wire might be a stretch. Ruler Of Love has not run this distance, but it surely looks like he can go the route. This midtrack runner is always there with the post position, and don’t be fooled by the 550 lines. I have seen several greyhounds that can’t run the early turn at 660 and be successful, but with a long run to the turn over 770, they can translate well. Don’t count him out tonight. Sassy’s Shadow gets a look here too. Why? She runs for DQ! The only time we ran a specific multi-room stakes event over 770, DQ won both of them. They have always had monster distance greyhounds and Sassy’s Shadow look to fit that mold as well. Sure she has not tried 770 yet either, but she looks the part and is coming off a huge win last time out over 660. If she breaks like that again in this effort, she might just wire this field on the front end for the upset. (8-2-3-7)

Remember that the Finals will run this Saturday evening at bestbet Orange Park in the 11th race, and then we will run them back again the following Saturday. Study hard, take notes, and even if you miss the ticket on the first go round, you will get another chance at the cash the following Saturday.
