Weekend Feature Races

Racing News

WFR

Another great weekend of world class racing is ahead of us here at bestbet Jacksonville as we warm up for the upcoming $20,000 bestbet Derby which starts on January 18th. Through the feature races we see all kinds of talent over 550 and 660 yards, and the return of the DQ Williams Kennel to racing at bestbet Jacksonville. So look through the race breakdowns and see if we can get some right and get you cashing tickets this weekend at bestbet Jacksonville.

Friday Evening –

Race 7 – Tough race here, but with class and speed at his disposable, Gm’s Charley has to be the one to beat. Scoring in 3 of his last 6 efforts, including trips of 30.22 and 30.28 seconds, you have to respect the all out raw speed he brings. With a favorable post, he should be out and gone early on again. Trying to ruin his night will be the stake threat who is gearing down right before the rounds, O Ya Gunsmoke. A factor over either route and hot off a win, he will be coming on late again to challenge. Keep an eye out for the solid grade A Pat C Rig as he should be stalking the pace, and don’t forget Boc’s Usain Bolt either. This ship in loves the rail, gets it here, and could be tough if close early on. (3-7-5-1)

Race 10 – Tough to pick against a greyhound on a streak, so we won’t. Lee Raven has won back to back races and has done so from well off the early pace. With a good inside she should clear close and make them all eat cake in the stretch. This will not be a romp though as three solid in the money greyhounds, no really not one has missed the money in 6 starts, will be looking to steal away the win early on. Puppy Jack’s Lift Off is still looking for his first grade A win and it could come here if he can get to the rail from the outside post. Ww’s Rockrevival could be a factor too as this solid grade A likes the post and has enough early to threaten. Don’t sleep on the puppy stakes winner Pat C More Ever either. He too can fire and take down a field as well. Look for this one to be highly contested. (2-6-8-7)

Race 15 – Who can outlast who should be the manta for this effort. Loads of early speed, who makes the lead, who is shorter late, determined just WHO wins this effort. Posted up solid grade A Ww Lucky Clover should be the one that comes out on top in this situation. He has the best mix of early and some staying power, so from just off the pace, he might be able to pass and get the job done at the wire. No doubt that the always contending grade A Ww’s Alanis will be in the mix late with her big closing style, and if wither wants the W they are probably going to have to Catch Cj’s Casper on the front end to get the job done at the finish line. Another intriguing greyhound is Pj Alabama. Recently winning back to back races and moving up to A, this greyhound has skills, she just needs to get out of the box better to make the most of them on game day. (2-7-8-4)

Saturday Matinee –

Race 7 – Lock time at bestbet Jacksonville. Our returning champ, CJ’s Colin, dominated a grade B field last time out and looks to do the same to a grade A race this matinee. As the only outside entry to make the finals of the invitational race at Naples, Colin is poised to pick up right where he left off at here at home. This breaking has found his mojo again on home soil and will dominate this race from the front end today in the matinee. Trying to run him down will be the every closing threat Ww Char Fontane. Forget the last effort, look before that one and see the true power of this greyhounds. With 4 wins in 5 starts and a close second in the other, you know this greyhound has a nose for the win. If they both come to run, it could be crowded at the finish line. Others to consider include the moving back up early speeder on the rail Td Ethan, along with the late gaining threat from the middle of the track Oaks Ruby. (7-6-1-5)

Race 11 – Another tight affair here in the matinee as we have 3 greyhounds going head to head to head who all won their last effort in grade A. Ww’s Cecilia was most impressive in those efforts with a monster time of 30.42 seconds and a win by almost 6 lengths in her last race. She has not missed the money, and won twice, in her last 6 effort and all of those times have been below 31.00 seconds. Look for more of the same here. Js Great Escape’s post makes her a threat, along with her 3 wins in 6 starts, but she will need to break in order to make the most of either in this effort. Ww Who Am I also has some front running chops at her disposable and can put up some speedy efforts of her own when she wants too. IE 30.39 3 starts back, but like Escape, she must break to have a shot here. The other factor could be Ww’s Triplecrown. Six straight races in the superfecta, including a win 2 races back, this greyhound also has a shot to steal away the win in this effort. (6-1-8-4)

Saturday Evening –

Race 7 – Even though she got run down in her last effort and her 7 race win streak came to an end in the photo finish, she still is probably the best greyhound going at the racetrack right now. The best breaker for sure, and she will be flying to the lead once again at the start of this effort. No one beats her to the early lead, and this time around, no one gets to her before the wire. A new streak starts tonight. Pushing the pace early should be the rail part of the racetrack. Resurging Gs Viola is starting to get it all figured out again and with this rail blanket she could be extra tough in this effort. Remember daddy was an All-American breaking machine here and she is looks to have received some of those genes as well. Fly Sarah Palin is another rail hunting greyhound from a great post that has enough early to be the mix as they round the bend in the 1st turn. She can stay as well and should be a threat throughout in this effort. Watch late for Waubun Ole Lady. This stretch closing machine will be flying up in the final strides to try and catch the leaders off guard as they hit the finish line tonight. (4-1-2-8)

Race 11 – Another hiccup to forget about tonight as Dutch Thunder will bring the lightning again in this effort from a great inside post position. Previous to his last effort, he has won 3 of 5 starts and hadn’t finished out of the trifecta in any trip. He has been breaking extremely well and that has been the difference maker for him. Here no big early speed to contend with, so I expect him to control this race from the get go. Another strong effort, he gets it done again tonight. Pressuring him the entire way will be the fantastic ship in, Jack’s Won Love. Love has not run out of the money yet at bestbet Jacksonville, and seems to be getting stronger with each effort. Liking the inside part of the racetrack, this could be the race that he finally gets his first grade A win at our track. Don’t forget about Flying Go Daddy from the outside as well, she won her last race in A from a similar post, and you know Pat C Gatsby might be getting a little long in the tooth, but could pop the box, steal the lead, and upset for fun if all the planets are aligned on this occasion. (3-2-8-5)

Race 15 – Over to 660 finally and a few greyhounds that are trying the route for the first time, or the first time in a while, as they try and get ready for the bestbet Derby. Experience wins the day for me though as Pat C Singed has been there and done that against stakes competition and tonight should just be another trip to victory. From a strong inside post, finally inside the 4 box for the first time in 6 trips, she will be way to close early on to be denied at the wire tonight. Ch Red Alert might not have gone 660 yet, but he sure looks the bill. Winning 3 straight in impressive fashion from off the pace, he looks ready to give it a go. Well suited and posted up in the 1 box, he will compete in his first attempt at the route. Cagey veteran, and stakes threat, Gs Daisy May will for sure be around the action tonight. Finally back on her game, she has not missed the paysheet in 6 straight trips. Winning has been hard as of late, but in the money, she has been consistent. Playing her under on your tickets should be a say bet tonight. You know what you are going to get with Ddm’s Orion. This huge closing threat is a factor in the stretch in almost all of his efforts. Winning 3 of 6, he could be upset minded, but he will need to be closer early on to get the job done in this race. (3-1-4-6)

Sunday Matinee –

Race 11 – Marks the return to grade A racing for the DQ Williams Kennel. Granted we don’t get to see the really big dogs just yet, they are taking a bit of a rest before they get rolling here, but an AA ship in hot off a win is a threat in any book. The problem is that he has drawn in against some tough competition. Stakes vet Gs Flipper should be the one to beat in this effort. Posted in an ideal spot, near the rail, she will find her break in this matinee race and make quick work of this field. No one around her can come out at all and she should be unabated to the front end. Once there she is tough to run down and I think she can steal enough to last at the wire. Trying to real her in late will be the outside part of the racetrack. Beachin is a hard charging greyhound that gives his best efforts in the later stages of the race. Hot off a win in a last time out, this greyhound is ready to go, oh and did I mention that he has been in the money in 8 of his last 10 starts. Ship in Hey Pretty Baby will flash some late foot as well and hopes to improve on a steady second place trip that she put up in schooling. Posted well outside, she could have a few tricks up her sleeve late for her new counterparts. Remember solid grade A Ww’s Tide Way in your wagers as well. With the 1 box, 8 of 10 in the money in grade A, including 2 wins, she can’t be overlooked in this effort. (2-8-7-1)
