The holiday season is upon us once again and that means more stake racing events. This year, just like the last, we will feature our Holiday Bonus Stakes here at bestbet Jacksonville. Each kennel will enter in their best greyhound over 550, 660, and 770. We picked the best of the best to run in our two round event, for the 550 and 660 greyhounds with the top 4 greyhounds in each race moving on, and a one round event for the 770 greyhounds.
The first round of the 550 and 660 races will run on Wednesday evening December 9th, 2015 and the finals of all three distances will run on Saturday evening December 12th at bestbet Jacksonville. Loads of talent is on tap, so let’s take a look at the first round, two 550 and two 660 races, and see if we can find out just who is moving on to the finals.
Wednesday evening –
Race 7 – 550 yards – There is loads of early speed and talent in this effort and it is going to be a humdinger of a race to watch. Hot off the juvenile finals, Sheezsohot and Ww’s Sammy are both on top of their game and each could put a hurting on this field if they get loose early on. Hot won 3 of the 4 rounds and Sammy just missed in the finals. Both might have to catch someone here though if they want to outright win this race. Veteran stakes racer, Pat C Gatsby is posted up well on the rail, and if he hits the lid, it could all be over in a hurry. This greyhound is a ankle burning machine and could steal enough to survive at the wire for the slight upset. Another greyhound that all these early speeders better pay attention to is Beachin. This greyhound has the best late speed in the bunch and will come flying up in the final strides to challenge for the win tonight. (8-4-2-6)
Race 9 – 660 yards – Back to 660 for O Ya Gunsmoke and back to the winners circle too. This greyhound is a dual threat and didn’t miss a beat switching back to 660 in his last effort. Out and gone early on again in this effort, it will be tough to denied him in this effort. Trying to will be the always tough stakes veteran Bostonstrongiris. This greyhound is a monster on the open lead and will need a big break again here if she wants a chance to win. Short last time out, well not really short just big closers coming, she is ready for another chance at a final tonight. Others to consider include the well posted solid grade A early speed threat Ww’s Kyocera and the hot off the Juvenile and back home over 660 runner Temp Rock. Oh and did I mention that he has the 1 box too? That might just help him be upset minded in this effort. (4-3-8-1)
Race 11 – 550 yards – Another tough race here with more Juvenile runners against some of the best sprinters at the racetrack. Solid grade A’s oh plenty, so we go with the big time threat Fiesta Beowolf. He has been running at a high level for the last couple of months, but this will not be a cake walk by any means. He will be tested throughout this effort. Arkaska Lotus was a finalist in the Juvenile who won 3 of the 4 rounds of the stakes. She has loads of early speed, a good post tonight, and she could wire this field if she gets loose early on here. Another strong competitor will be Gs Flipper. Flipper can contend and win over both 550 and 660 and always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Here with a outside post, she will have to work hard early to get to where she wants to be on the racetrack. With 4 of 5 in the money showing in grade A, you know she will contend again here. Keep an eye out for the closer Sunkist N Salty as well. This greyhound is a big time closer that has been in the cash in 5 straight trips in grade A. He would rather be nearer to the midtrack posts, but has done well from the rail in the past. If he gets around close tonight, he will be in the thick of things at the wire in this effort. (7-2-6-1)
Race 15 – 660 yards – Hard to pick against a two time Orange Park Derby winner, so I won’t. Tmc’s Sweety Pie is still the best 660 greyhound at the racetrack when she wants to go, the question is when does she want to run. She can hit the lid and leave a field in the dust early, or come from way off the pace and run down everyone before the wire. Closing will be more of a reality for her in this effort as there are a couple of early speed threats, but not matter the lead, it’s time for her to get back on top. PS, she always runs well in stakes races! Trying to make her work will be will be the late driving Kk Scotchwhiskey. This greyhound has been a solid grade A competitor and has been in the money in 5 of his last 6 races. Other to worry about include the always stalking early speed runner Pat C Singed from a favorable post position, and the best early speed runner in the bunch Gm’s Annabell. Unabated to the lead, she might just find a way to steal it if the planets are aligned tonight. (6-8-4-5)
Remember to join us on Saturday evening December 12th as we will run the finals of our 550, 660, and 770 races. Three separate stakes events over three different distance on one single card! Talk about excitement! Don’t miss the Holiday Bonus Stakes races on Saturday evening.
