The first round of the 2015 bestbet Juvenile saw something that you don’t ever see, 8 different winners. Some kennel always wins more than one round to start with, but not this time around. All of the victors in round 1 all came from different kennels, so the points are spread out all over the place. Another interesting thing that happed was that we had greyhounds winning in all sorts of fashion. We had some box to wire wins, we had some late closing wins, we had some hold on at the wire wins, and we had some run away victories.
The more impressive on the card came in the very first stakes race on the evening. Lk’s Picketwire, of the J&J Calabro Kennel, rushed to the early lead and left the field in his lurch. Never backing down, he increased his lead throughout and breezed almost 6 lengths clear of the rest. Easi Darrell finished a distance second, and Td Fergie outphotoed Gs Vanity for show.
The quickest time on the card came in the 7th race with a win by the Chances Are entry, Mac’s Melanie. Breaking close, Melanie seized control early, stole a lead down the backside, and coasted to the wire for the easy victory. The closing B Morton’s Fury was second, followed by Bonafide Leader just ahead of Fanatic Paulie in 3rd.
Kc’s Todd of the Crowe Kennel also put up a big effort in the 9th race as well. Outrushing all to the front end at the turn, he made the most of the clear air up front in this effort. Adding lengths to the far turn he was 3 ahead before he started to turn for home. Increasing even more he crossed 5 lengths clear of the rest at the wire. Gs Viola finished in 2nd, Ww’s Cecilia was in third and Easi Kelly finished 4th.
In the fourth race, the Double J entry, Arkaska Lotus dominated from the get go. Beating the box and rocketing to the early lead, Lotus was never in question in this trip around the oval. By the first turn she was 2 lengths clear of the rest and that margin just increased with every step she took around the oval by the wire she was almost 5 lengths better than the rest as she breezed to the easy victory. Next best was Ww’s Cherry Kiss, just ahead of Easi Fabulous in 3rd and Flying Megavolt in 4th.
It was a Super effort in the 11th race as Super C Britni of the Lester Raines kennel showed off her determined running style for the win. Breaking close, she stalked the leader, and took advantage of some trouble, and raced home to secure the easy 4 length victory. Trackinfo Dutch benefited in the far turn for place, as C Ville Chiller worked thru to show and Hel’s Lola completed the superfecta.
The other three winners all got it done in the deep stretch to secure 16 points and a win in the first round of the stakes. Tempo Rock from the Jim Blanchard kennel ran down Ww’s Sammy on the late lead to score in the 5th race. Ww’s Char Fontane, of Red Oak Racing, won the three way battle in the 10th race over Pullanallnighter and Fanatic Pockets for the win, and Ddm’s Black Hole, of the Ocala Kennel, rocketed up the stretch to steal away the win from Super C Aria by a neck in the 12th race on the card.
