Round 2 of the 2015 bestbet Juvenile is in the books and we have not one, not two, but three greyhounds that remained undefeated after two rounds of the stakes. Two of the three were in extra tough against several first round winners, and well the other one was clearly best and barely proved so at the wire.
The quickest trip on the card came from one of the three winners, Arkaska Lotus of the Double J Kennel. Breaking on top in the 11th race on the card, Lotus took over instant command of the race and never looked back. Increasing her lead with every step she took around the oval, and crossed the wire in 30.65 seconds with a breezing 3.5 length win. Kc’s Todd chased the pace throughout in place, followed by Tempo Rock in 3rd and Super C Aria in 4th.
It might not have been the fastest or the most lengths win on the night, but Lk’s Picketwire of the J&J Calabro Kennel did put on a show again in the 3rd race. Breaking slowly, he outrushed everyone to the turn and took over control of the race. Down the backside, he stretch the margin and coasted all the way to the wire for the easy victory. His 30.74 clocking and 3.5 length win were enough to keep him untouched in the stakes. Fellow first round winners Mac’s Melanie chased in place and Ww Char Fontane followed for third. C Ville Hondo closed late to complete the superfecta.
Super C Britni Of the Lester Raines Kennel looked like the lead pipe cinch in the 7th race, and even though she one, it was not as easy of a victory that everyone though it would be. Clearly she was the class and proved that early on as she broke close, drove to the lead at the first turn. Just a length ahead of Easi Dallas at the turn, she was pushed all the way to the wire. Dallas closed in as fast as he could but came up just a neck short at the finish line in second, and Saber Rat outclosed Td Fergie in the stretch and finished third.
Lester Raines also won another round of the stakes with B Morton’s Fury in the 12th race on the card. Dueling from the get go, Fury showed true determination in the run to the turn and poked his nose in front at the first call. From that point in he was not going to lose and padded his margin all the way to the wire. Crossing 4 lengths ahead of the rest, the best on the night, he stopped the clock at a speedy 30.72 trip. Closing late for second once again was Trackinfo Dutch, followed by the early leader who had to settle for show Par Speed Ball. Completing the superfecta was Barts Plan On It.
The Lester Raines Kennel was not the only one to win a pair of races in round 2. The Blanchard Kennel also took home wins in two events and they came back to back in the 4th and 5th on the card. Both greyhounds won in similar fashion, and whether it be by a mile or a neck, a win, is a win, is a win.
Pullanallnighter burst from the starting box and stole away a big lead on the field early, and he was going to need every inch of it in this effort. Dwindling her margin throughout, she survived at the wire by a half a length for the win in race number 4. Big props to Hot Tamale and Ln Houdini who made up ground on the leader from start to finish and never gave up as they finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Fourth went to the even chasing Kc’s Waltrip in this effort.
Race 5 was won in similar fashion as Easi Kelly did not make it an easy win tonight. Breaking in the middle of the pack, Kelly got on his horse early on and outrushed the rest to the early lead in this effort. Packing away 3 lengths early on, he got them stripped away by the far turn and was just a length ahead turning for home. Digging in deep, he gave his all and barely lasted at the wire by a neck for the big time W. Kudos head out to Mx Midnight Jazz in second as she came flying up and just missed at the wire. Gibs On settled for a game third after pushing the pace throughout, and Jack’s Fireworks finished out the superfecta a bit back from the leaders.
The other two victories came from off the pace as Sheezsohot overtook the leader in the far turn and cruised home for the easy win in race #9, and C Ville Chiller let the leaders go early and reeled them in down the backside as she coasted all the way to the wire for the easy win in race #2.
