2015 bestbet Sprint Classic Round 3

Quarter-Finals Friday Evening

Racing News

Two rounds down and two to go before we get to the finals, so each and every race is important if you want a chance at the title. For the Quarter-Finals, the 3rd round, of the $20,000 bestbet Sprint Classic the field has been trimmed down and now just 4 races, or 32 greyhounds, remain in the competition. Only the best of the best are left, and that means that the races will get harder and the points will be more valuable as we move on in the stakes.

Let’s take a look at the remaining races for Friday evening at bestbet Jacksonville.

Friday Evening – 3rd Round of bestbet Sprint Classic

Race 5 – As advertised, this race is going to be a humdinger to watch. Loads of talent are all over the place including 3 round winners in this stakes. Have to go with the experience when things get tough, so C Ville Wynter is the one for me. In a better box this time around, she could clear near the early leaders, and in the stretch, she has enough late to get by them all and take home yet another win in qualifying. Making her use all she has should be Fiesta Beowolf. Beowolf has not missed the trifecta in 6 straight races and has won 3 of those starts, including the first round of the stakes. He will be a game threat throughout again in this effort and has a shot at stealing away a win too. Never forget Macktheknife if you are wagering on any race that he runs in. He is as fast as he wants to be, and that was in full display in his second round romp. He can close on occasion too. With an outside post positions, he might just wake up and jack the field for a second straight time. Another one to consider is the rested and ready, always closing threat, that is Beachin. Not quite midtrack here, he might have to find some room early, but late he will be coming strong for sure. Forget the grade and notice the talent. (3-5-7-2)

Race 7 – Another outside post position and another chance for a win from Eds Budby Blaze. This closer will most likely have to come from off the pace once again to get it done, but if the mood is right, there is no doubt that he will be right in the thick of things at the finish line once again tonight. No doubt in my mind on who he will have to catch on the early lead here if he wants to steal away that big time W, it will be none other than the ankle burner Cj’s Colin. Sure he missed his break last time out, and he couldn’t get to the rail, but this time no one here has his early foot and he should be unabated to the early lead. Could he wire the field and post up a win, like he did in 4 of his last 5 starts, YEP! But he is a take short late on occasion and I think it is just enough for him to get nosed out at the wire. The other greyhounds to think about might be a stretch to some, but you have to look at all of the facts first. I know she is a pup, but Super C Aria is a strong closer that gets back to an inside post position once again tonight. Last 2 times from the inside she posted up dynamic wins, and with no big early speed next to her, she could be upset minded here. Don’t forget Mrl Gettin Even either. This converted 660 greyhound has gears to burn and when she gets loose early on, she dominates like she did in round 1. If she is in the conversation early on, she will be a big time threat at the wire tonight. (7-8-3-1)

Race 10 – This is the first half of the forced out Twin-Trifecta and what better key play than a greyhound that is undefeated in the stakes. By Gold Radar has been outbreaking and outrunning the competition so far, and with another strong rail post position, he could take home the hat-trick here in this effort. Winner in 4 of his last 6 starts, he is hotter than anyone at the racetrack and he has won his last 2 starts from this post position. It might not be an easy victory, but a win is a win is a win. Pressing the leader throughout will be the ideally posted on the rail runner Lee Polly. Polly also won last time out after a disappointing run in round 1. She too has been hot as of late with 3 wins in 5 starts. Her advantage is that she is not a one trick pony on the lead. She has skills late too and could come on strong and sneak away with a slim win at the wire tonight. Puppy Stakes winner Pat C More Ever might like to run on the rail, but has not minded the outside posts at all in the rounds. Granted he has not been winning races, but he has been in the thick of things in all of his starts. Another solid chasing effort for him, he should be a key play under on your tickets. Nomistakeaboutit also gets some love here. With 4 straight in the trifecta, and 5 in his last 6 starts, he is a consistent threat in any race, and with a good inside starting box, he should keep up the strong work in this effort. (2-1-7-3)

Race 11 – The other undefeated greyhound comes your way in this effort, but O Ya Gunsmoke will have his work cut out for him tonight. The 4 box is not the 1 box, that’s where he won the first 2 rounds from, and this field is nothing like what he has been competing against. This field is tough! There are several that can beat him from the box and others that can come on strong late and challenge. He will need to break well again in this effort and be on top of his game if he wants the streak to continue. Breaking fast and putting on the glitz will be the cagey veteran Pat C Gatsby. Gatsby is always tough when he gets his nose out in front early on, and the empty box next door will give him room to shine early on tonight. No one can beat him to the turn when he wants to go, but coming home is a different story. He is short late and can get caught, but he can also hang on occasion and win, just check out his last race. You know he will lead, you know he will contend, you know he should be in the money, the only question is, can he hold the lead and win? Another greyhound that will be applying pressure will be Gs Flipper. Flipper is no slouch herself as she has won 3 of her last 6 races and has not missed the money once in her last 6 efforts. Granted she has not posted up a W in the rounds, but has been a big time threat and was right there at the wire twice in her rounds. With a better post position and a little determination, she too could upset in this effort. Remember to look at Amigos Salsa in this race too. This solid grade A greyhound has been a mainstay in the money recently and has enough early to get close and enough left late to be dangerous in the stretch. The outside post is a plus for this rail runner, and if she can get loose early on everyone better be wary of her in this effort. (4-5-3-7)

The semi-finals of the will run on Monday evening November 2nd at bestbet Jacksonville. Once again we will trim down the field and only the top 3 races of greyhounds, 24 in all, will have a chance to move on to the finals.
