Another weekend of racing is ahead of us here at bestbet Orange Park full of discounts, prizes, promotions, and improved racing cards with added grade A’s.
We are doing our best to upgrade the caliber of racing here at bestbet, so watch the grade A races grow, the greyhounds become more consistent, a new kennel to be added to the roster, the addition of some stakes events, and some new grading rules here in the near future.
This weekend we get races over all three distances, 550, 660, and 770 yards, featuring 4 top grade events on Friday, 5 grade A’s on Saturday, 3 grade A’s on Sunday, and a TC marathon on Saturday evening.
Plenty of chances to watch, wager, and win on the best at the racetrack, so check out the breakdowns below and hopefully we can up your chances at cashing some tickets.
In the 7th race puppy Stakes finalist, and phenom pup, Ww’s Ignite Fire looks for a clean trip and a chance to get back off the snide in this effort. With great closing speed, she will be a threat no matter what, but she is hoping to break better and make this an easy win. Will she?? Kennelmate Ww’s Elicit is a solid grade A closer that will be a late threat to any leader, and former stakes finalist E’s Blingo is always tough from the outside post positions. All might have to catch the returning M’s Free Draw in this effort as he has the best early speed of the bunch and is breaking from the coveted one box. (5-7-8-1)
Race 10 is the first half of the forced out Twin-Tri and it looks like it is also for veterans. Gs Jock is not going to let anyone get his goat in this effort. Jock just missed last time out from this very post, but tonight he is not going to be denied in back to back efforts. Granted he will probably have to come from behind again to get it done, and outclose his talented competitors Ww’s Tear Strip and Dutch Rudy, but experience proves best here. Running the best of his career Tear Strip will be a threat throughout, and Rudy hot off the stakes final will be a force to be reckoned with as well. Once again the speed is on the rail and if Bob’s Timeless can make the front end, he will have a shot at the upset in this effort. (3-5-6-1)
Unknown territory in the 11th race on the card as ship in Whittington looks to pick up where he left off at Daytona Beach. He was tearing up the track there, but missed his break last time out and was left in the dust. Here he will get a greyhound to chase early, no doubt Gs Kristen is going to the lead early on, and will have a reason to get back to those late determined ways. Both have to be wary of the always trying Secret Papers and the rousing newcomer Tc Parker, if they want to get the job done. Any could win, who steps up and takes control? (2-3-4-6)
Capping off the card over 660 yards, the 15th race is all about the inside and all about the Willis Kennel. Gs Cosmo and Gs Grace are exactly where they want to be in this effort and either one of these fantastic greyhounds could take home the top spot in this effort. Grace has been running better than Cosmo as of late, but Cosmo is the more complete runner over the added distance. Here I think Grace wins the duel to the lead, but Cosmo wins the battle to the wire and gets back on track. Both will have to deal with an ultra talented field including the always trying Cayenne Madonna who has finished in the trifecta in 5 of 6 races, and the back to back winning, 5 straight races in the money runner, Ww’s Sweetie. (1-5-2-3)
Saturday Matinee & Evening
In the 7th race in the matinee Warped looks to kick start a new streak after a rough trip in her last effort. This monster on the lead can beat anyone at the racetrack when she wants to, but she needs to come flying from the box and steal a bunch early of she is going to get it done again today. Ww’s Unk also can break and gets a great post position to start from here in the 1 box. This should be a heated battle to the turn, but late Warped will have just too much for the youngster to handle. Both greyhound better have an eye in the rearview mirror for Jet City Woman in the stretch too. She is coming off a huge win where she never even though of giving up after a huge early bump. Another one to consider is Ww’s Hip Hop. If this solid grade A can get out of the box well, he might just have a chance in this one. (3-1-5-7)
The 11th race in the matinee should be a tough front running battle for the lead and the win, but you have to like the chances of the resurging D’bulls Tyvek. This greyhound found his mojo again in the puppy stakes and has kept it going on since returning to grade A action. His break and come back and he is running as tough as ever from around the lead. Here he will be challenged early and often and will need to put up his best effort to win. Making him work will be back to back to back winner Ww Fastrak Dino, along with the always trying and closing Mega Shaped, and the it’s good to be home runner J’s Moonshine. (2-4-5-7)
The 7th race in the evening should be a good battle between the front running speed of Black Oak Smash and the closing ability of newcomer Rainie Rose. Both greyhounds are posted well and could take home the top spot at the wire if everything goes their way. Smash is going to the early lead in this effort, but can he hold on to it all the way to the wire. No doubt who is breaking last here either, but even with that slow start, Rainie Rose will come flying for sure late and give everything from a great post position. Down the stretch it should be really interesting, but it could be even more so if these question marks decide to show up. Veteran Kiowa Jill Smile is as tough as she wants to be and can win races for fun if she gets the front end, and don’t over look Ww’s Irish Moss either. This greyhound is coming off the stakes could and has enough left late to do some damage as they approach the finish line. (8-3-6-7)
Now for a DOUBLE DOUBLE distance treat in the 9th race for Saturday evening over 770 yards. Here class past performance are our guides to success. Sooner or later Lucky Betty has to wake up and run, and TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT! Breaking from a solid inside post, she will come out better and decide to run earlier against the mixed grade field which she has a distinct class edge over the competition. No matter what she has to overcome, she is frankly just better than anyone else in this effort. Making waves of her own should be Gs Kadence. Kadence loves it at 770 and will be a factor from the get go, especially outside where she will get room to run early. Mac’s Starman also must be considered a threat after an impressive win last time out. I know the 6 is not the 1 box, but if he breaks fast, he will be a threat throughout. Speaking of posted, M’s Flex Ellen loves the rail and gets the one box in this race. If she decides to shake what her daddy gave her, she might just prove to be a much bigger challenge than expected in this effort. (2-8-6-1)
Puppy power to the front in the 11th race for Saturday evening as upstarts, and puppy stakes competitors, Ww’s Cous and Kiowa Try Thelma will be battling it out for the top spot at the wire tonight. Both greyhounds have the ability to get it done in this effort, but their methods are just a bit different. Cous is going to come out fast and try and dominate throughout, whereas Thelma is going to wait a bit at the start and come flying up the stretch to try and steal away the win at the wire. Either could get it accomplished in this race, it just depends on who wants it more. Both will have to be on their games though as the extremely well posted Mega Chungo will be lurking and closing throughout from the 8 box, and the back to back winner My Baby Belle might just make the most of that red box and surprise them all with a strong three-peat. (4-2-8-1)
Back to 660 yards for the 15th and final race on Saturday evening and when I say it is a doozy, I might just be understating a fact. There are loads of talent in this race and who ever decided to step up and run could take down any of the others. Each of the 8 greyhounds have won a race in their last 4 efforts and some have won multiple races. Leading the way has to be the veteran Gavotte. Well overdue for the top spot, Gavotte is clearly the class of this field and has better raw speed than anyone else here. Granted she will need to break from the tough middle box, but I think it is her time to shine once again. Providing the biggest challenge will be the greyhound that beat her out last time, Craigie Soltice. Soltice has won 4 of 6 races, including a pair in grade A, and all of those have come on the early lead. Tonight I big break is needed if she is going to get it done again. Outside threats come from the Raines kennel where Dutch Cami is riding high off her first win over 660 in an impressive 37.55 clocking, and the always trying veteran Caitlyns Dream is back home over 660 and will be in the mix for sure. (4-3-7-8)
Battle-Royal time in the 7th race as stake race finalist neighbors take aim at the lead, each other, and the win in this effort. Pat C Stonewall was next best in the 2013 JGR Puppy Stakes and Amazing Run won the 2013 James J Patton Silver Cup, and today they try and get back to winning at bestbet Orange Park. Both are coming off rough trips, but don’t expect that to stop them. They will be duking it out throughout in this effort and it could be a tossup at the line to see who will come out on top. Amf Leftsiderite might be new to grade A, but you can’t over look 10 straight trips in the superfecta. Money will keep doing what he has been doing, and even in grade A, he will find a way to continue to factor. Mega Czar also must not be overlooked in this effort. His great closing speed and his determination will make him a late threat again in this effort. (1-2-4-7)
Next up is the 9th race and the inside part of the racetrack is going to be mighty crowded in this effort. I like all that sits inside and it’s tough not too when you look at their lines. Cayenne Hail is hot off the stakes round and has won back to back efforts on the front end in grade A, but she still might not be the one to beat. Ww’s Dust Me Off might have faltered last time out, but previous to that he has won 3 races in a row and had been in the money in 7 straight. Both of these early runners will be dueling on the front end throughout, but they better watch out for Gs Tex in the stretch. This closed finished 4th in the stakes final and currently has an in the money streak of 14 races in a row going, and there is Mega Edile. Edile has won 2 of 3 starts and put up a blazing fast 30.51 clocking in his last effort. If he decides to break, he too may have an outside shot at the win in this effort. (2-3-1-4)
Completing the grade A trifecta for Sunday afternoon, we turn to the 11th race on the card and the Ricky Bobby of the racetrack, Kiowa Stop Sammy. Sammy has won or finished last in 8 races in a row. If you take the pattern, this race is his turn to win, so I have to believe that he is going to get it done. He is a monster on the early lead and should be able to get the front against this even breaking field. Time for him to hit the gas early on and take the checkered flag once again at the wire today. Drafting behind him should be the duo from the Red Oak Racing, Ww Head First and Ww’s Death Row. Head First is back from a rest and so far she has not missed a beat. Two wins in three starts and ready for more, this close will be providing a late challenge for sure in this effort. Death Row is more of an even runner that needs to get out of the box well today if she wants a chance to contend. The post helps, but she must break out of her recent funk to factor. Easi Butterball can be tough near the lead in any race, but he must start breaking again if he wants a chance to win. Here the post is not the greatest, but it won’t matter if he hits the lid. He is short late though and even with the lead, he might not be able to hold on. If he comes to run, he should be a factor around the lead from start to finish. (6-7-2-5)
