Crowe Best in Round 1 as Porter Dominates

The first round of the 2013 James J Patton Silver Cup is in the books and no greyhound has more impressive than the two time stakes winners, Snj Black Porter. Breaking from his coveted 8 box in race 10, Porter seized early control on the way to the turn and never looked back. Drawing away from the field with every stride he took, Porter crossed 9.5 lengths of her nearest competitor in a blazing 30.32 romp. Chasing him in next best was E’s Blingo and closing for show was the 2013 Orange Park Derby winner Safe At Home.

Crowe also took home another victory in the rounds and that came by the way of Amazing Run in the 14th race. Hitting and lid, Run was in instant command of this effort. She was pressed early on, but drew clear down the backside and coasted all the way to the finish line for the easy 3.5 length victory. Talented youngster Gs Jersey closed for place, and Braska Nymph also gaining throughout for show.

The Connell Kennel’s Warped continued her red hot winning ways in the 12 race on the card as she broke close early, outrushed everyone to the lead at the first turn, and proved tough on top all the way to the wire for the win. Pot O’gold Classic winner, Lucky Bill came flying up late to steal away the place position at the finish line, and veteran Gs Jock improved in the stretch for third place.

The Sarras Kennel started off the night well in the first stakes race on the card. Rising star Amf Rap Singer ran a huge race in the 7th as he reached back for more when he needed it. Ww Fancy Floyd seized the lead on the way to the first turn and controlled this race all the way to the stretch. Rap Singer found the right beat near the wire and surged by in the final steps to get it done. Floyd settled for place and Pat C Abash chased in show throughout.

Pat Collins Took home a big W in the 11th race as Pat C Stonewall gave a determined front running effort. Breaking close, Stonewall outrushed everyone to the turn and took over command. She continued the pace up front and gave a determined run to the wire for the slim win. Stalking her from start to finish was the always trying Ww’s Wise Gal and Gs Jocelyn who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.

The Raines Kennel is no stranger to winning stakes rounds and races and there win in round one came by the way of Backtalk in the 9th race on the card. Backtalk is a big time early speed greyhound that burst from the box, stole a slim lead and watched it dwindle all the way to the wire. The good news is that he stole enough early on to hold on in the deep stretch for the victory. Gaining with every step he took was Ty Kay Willing. Willing ran a winning effort and just missed at the finish line by a half of a length. The resurging System Of A Down make up ground throughout and finished off the show place at the finish line.

Last but not least, the best Kennel at the racetrack, Red Oak, stole away a win in round 1 as well and it was probably the hardest earned one of the entire card. Scortch Mcbones put on a clinic as he rushed to take command of the 15th race, but it was what he did after he made the lead that was most impressive. He battled to keep his nose in front as Tony Dinozzo Pc stalked the pace from the first turn on. These too was locked up throughout, but try as he might, Tony just couldn’t get by Mcbones before the wire. Also in contention was the hard closing Mr. Quiggly who finished just off in 3rd.
