bestbet’s GREG MERSON wins 2012 World Poker Championship

In what has been called “one of the most masterful demonstrations of excellence in the 43-year history of the WSOP,” Greg Merson won the World Series of Poker, WSOP Player of the Year honors … and $8.5 million.   Merson, a 24-year-old Maryland poker professional, outlasted the nine-player final table and a 12-hour three-handed marathon to take the title. It was just before dawn when Merson, holding king high, put Martha’s Vineyard pro Jesse Sylvia all-in for the win.  Merson, who wore the bestbet Jacksonville logo as did his boisterous cheering section, will compete in the upcoming WPT Jacksonville bestbet Fall Poker Series, November. 8 – 13.   Other top pros scheduled to attend the Jacksonville event are Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu and Matt Glantz.

Congratulations, Greg, and we’re looking forward to seeing you next week at bestbet Jacksonville.
