The DQ Williams Kennel has had loads of superstars at the Orange Park Kennel Club, but none might have been as fast as the pair of puppies that took to the racetrack this past week.

Both of these monsters in the making have already been in a stakes final and both just turned two this past month, but the real surprise is the all out breakneck speed that they have at their disposable whenever they want to use it.

Phenom J’s Robin moved back to 550 yards after a 3rd place finish in the 2012 Orange Park Derby and to say it was a fantastic return to the shorter course would not do it justice. You see in her young career she has never missed the money over 550 and in her race on February 18, she made sure that they streak stayed intact.

Starting out near the inside in the 4 box, Robin decides to break and that is really bad news for the field. This closing monster was in the lead at the start, and from that moment on, it just got plain U-G-L-Y. She coasted around the 1st turn with a 3 length margin and with every step she took, she got further and further away from this field. By the far turn the lead was by 7 lengths, but she was not done just yet. She kept on keeping on all the way to the wire and blazed the trail by 10 lengths over the competition. Stopping the clock at a career best 30.24 seconds, Robin proved that she is going to be a force for a mighty long time here a the Orange Park Kennel Club.

Offthebrakedrake took a month off after the finals of the 2011 Jacksonville Juvenile and he has come back with a vengeance. He has not missed the money in all 7 starts and he has posted up wins in 4 of those efforts, but none were as impressive, or flat out fast, than his last.

Breaking from an ideal rail post, Drake made the most of the 2 box in his effort of February 20th and dominated from the get go. He hit the lid, rushed to early control, and left the field in his lurch. He increased his margin with every step he took and crossed the finish line 13 full lengths ahead of a grade A field of greyhounds. What might be even more impressive was the time! How about 30.25 seconds? That’s ultra fast now a days and ranks right up there with some of the best trips I have ever seen around this oval. This personal best time was a half a second faster than he has ever run, and that could be the start of something really special at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

So it looks like DQ has once again come up with a couple of greyhounds that are growing up fast before our eyes and could be the next superstars of the racetrack. Fast as they want to be, this dynamic duo will be surely setting their sights on the upcoming Jacksonville Sprint Classic which starts in March.

Congrats to DQ and Sharon Williams, Trainer, Louis Amaral, and everyone else connected with these fantastic four legged track stars. Good luck in the future and get used to hearing their names, as they are probably going to be mentioned over and over again for a long time here at the Orange Park Kennel Club.
